We learn as time goes on just how much of a train wreck the original game's story was.

No Special, 4v4 and simplified skill trees are the new train wrecks coming in.

I've never even touched the game, but I thought the IP looked cool when they unveiled it. Then they released it, with lore cards available on the website instead of making them a codex in the game. IHE videos on Destiny are highly entertaining. I'm hoping he makes a few for Destiny 2 as well.

Well, have fun with such a thought-through IP that they didn't even know what the primary antagonistic force was, guys.

IMHO all the narrative becomes dust when you replay hundreds if not thousands of permutation of the same content which you do in Destiny(3k hours in my case, sad, I know). Quite soon people begged for a break button to stop videos after certain missions.

The Destiny story nerds are a small sectarian movement almost as a rare as an Exotic Engram dropping during the Loot Cave period.

That's just common sense. You play for the gameplay, not to see the same cutscene for the nth time.

Just an example how meaningless any story becomes in a game like Destiny which you don't play for its narrative structure:)

P.S. Cayde-6 always knows what really matters in Destiny. Shoot for Loot.

    Hey.

Speak for yourself. Destiny's story kept getting better and better the more the devs found their footing, and became legit top tier with Taken King.

Even before that, for people who actually took the time to look it up (though yes, I know that we shouldn't have had to) the story behind everything is pretty cool.

Let's hope they put some of that stuff in destiny 2. I'm a strong supporter of them making sword logic "the darkness," that would be really awesome.

Also stuff like the theories about rasputin and the other warminds would make really cool side stories.

There is also the legend and the back stories of ppl like Eris Morn and Saladin that makes the story intriguing. We have not scratched the surface of it...

So. Initial thoughts on the Beta after testing out everything.

The Beta is literally just the first mission (intro), a single strike, and two multiplayer modes.

In essence, people PvE oriented are fucked until the game comes out, but at least the PvP can be spammed.

    In order:
The intro mission is the one shown on E3, and it sufficiently strong to watch/play. New weapons took a bit of getting used to but nothing drastic. New supers are cool. Kinda bummed that I wasn't allowed to choose a gender and shit but that should be available in the actual game.

The strike was okay. Most of it was typical Destiny strike gameplay. Go here, activate that, go through these guys, fight Boss. The Boss was different in that there were different stages to the fight, but nothing groundbreakingly different. Biggest challenge was getting used to the weapons and different abilities.

The PvP is as pure fun as Destiny's was, and remains the same at its core (and appearance, tbh). The Countdown mode is actually pretty fun and completely unique rather than a reskinned and renamed mode from D1.

Disappointed at the lack of PvE material, but hopeful at what the actual game will deliver.

Now excuse while I play some more.

You don't get to go up in levels like you did in the D1 Beta, and all the armor pieces have the same stats, but you can get different weapons and armor sets, so that's cool.

    Had to share this gem.

    Sexiest thing I've ever seen.

(Context: New hunter super has a dodge. Things were dodged)

I have a good friend working on this project. He has told me pretty good things about the project (what he is legally able to say that is). However, he recommends not buying the PC version at launch. Apparently the PC version was a last minute addition from corporate and has not had the same amount of time in development and testing as the consoles.

Guess bungie really hates PC? They've had a few years to sort this out.

Finally managed to get on the beta too. Only done the Homecoming mission which was dope. Riskrunner ftw

Are PC sales really that much worse? Regardless I am still going to try out the beta.
