I expected it to hit me more emotionally and the villain was underwhelming, even if it was supposed to be about the Civil War. Didn't think it was quite as good as Winter Soldier, but it was still good.

Way better than the DC movie. Spider-Man was easily the best part, followed closely by Elizabeth Olsen in a skirt.

Speaking of objectification... That shot of Cap flexing in the helicopter scene. Christ. xD

Can I just say that it's unfair I have to wait another week to see it and I hate you all out of petty jealousy?

I feel like this was the best MCU villain to date, arguably toppling Loki from the top of the list. I'll throw the remainder in spoiler tags for the US folks as you unfortunately have to wait till Friday. Better safe than sorry even if folks should expect spoilers.

Not because he was some super big bad looking to end the world, or kill all of the Avengers, or have some crazy big bad scheme - he was just a guy who lost everything who wanted to inflict a similar level of pain onto the Avengers. They got to 'go home' and well, there's no real repercussions. It's so very simple a concept but my oh my is it a nice change to the age old recipe of 'big bad introduced, evil scheme, inevitable good guy victory.'

You could argue he ultimately succeeds given the state of everything at the end, though I'd be interested as to why you think he was a weak villain - lack of presences maybe? I can get that wholeheartedly.

I was disappointed with how little we got of Crossbones, and the ending didn't go quite the way I thought it would - albeit it's nice to finally have a somewhat negative ending in the MCU.

Hopefully seeing it again at the weekend and currently holds top spot for me. Winter Soldier was great, and I can see why people argue this is almost a better Avengers film than Age of Ultron - but it's certainly the best Marvel film to date.

I think his plan was convoluted, too much so. Too many contrivances and the like, his motives and character though were pretty awesome.

The only regrets I have in regards to the movie are of the villain itself.

    SPOILERS DOWN BELOW!!

    :colbert:

Zemo was underwhelming, pretty much non-existent in the movie, and had little to no role in the screening time. C'mon Marvel, you can do better than that. You're not like DC who name a movie Batman vs Superman and then only show one actual fight scene of them. << (Don't take seriously).

Zemo was barely relevant. I know, I know, he was this guy who activates the brain washing methods in Barnes and makes him go on a rampage and he reveals that Barnes was the one that killed Stark's parents in 1991, but that could be done by any other villain! NOT ZEMO!!!

I refuse to believe that such a great character in the comics could possibly have such little of a role in the long anticipated movie.

I know, I'm rambling, and this is my personal opinion, but I suppose it is kind of balanced by the fact that this movie supports originality by having the villain kind of win.

    Toodles.

Eh, Zemo was one of the best plots, one of the only villains to actually win. He was underwhelming in his influence because he knew he couldnt beat them, so he made them beat eachother, that was the plot.

A strong contender for best entry in the franchise so far. Really solid performances, a much improved plot, great new characters and boner-inspiring action scenes.

I nearly squealed when Ant-Man went giant.

Wooooooo. That was great. Fun, but not a pointless romp. Funny, but not trying too hard. Team Iron Man members had most of the best scenes, but I thought everyone gave a really strong performance.

Paul Bettany continues to be awesome at everything he does. Hollywood needs to give him more kickass ensemble roles so he can wipe away the Legion/Priest-shaped stain on his career.

Went to see it last night. Probably my favorite Marvel movie so far (arguably over Avengers, even). It's not that it had the scale or sheer awesome factor of Avengers, but it was imo the most solid, well-acted and well-paced film so far.

I liked everything about it. BP was great, Spiderman was awesome, RDJ deserves an Oscar for his performance, the Bucky angle was handled better than I feared, the Civil War thing didn't escalate to a ridiculous proportion, it was an overall well-made superhero movie without shoehorning an uber villain for the heroes to bash against.

Felt like rather than bashing us on the head with visuals and awesome, this movie had nuance, which I can respect.

Edit: It just occurred to me. Where was Fury during all of this? Did he show up for Ultron, even?

Saw it. Liked it. Want a Falcon, Cap, Bucky road trip movie in that tiny Beetle.

    ANT-MAN BECAME GIANT-MAN!!!

Thought it was a little strange that they decided to adapt Ultimate Nightmare in the middle of their Civil War adaptation, but whatever.

I can't help but wonder what the actors feel about this. I mean, Robert Downey signed up for Iron Man (and did an absolutely amazing job) but then he got caught doing, what, 9 more movies? As the same character? Can't help but wonder how long it'll be before he just doesn't want to play Tony Stark any more.

I'm pretty sure that whenever he starts to get a little bored of being Tony Stark he takes a glance at his pay cheque and suddenly doesn't feel so bad.

I am back. I had internet problems so it is a bit late but whatever.
For the movie, I loved it. Characters, plot, bad guy, action all of it. I would rank this better than any other Avengers movie.

I especially liked how Tony had problems with Pepper and he goes and talks about how his parents always made it work. That was emotionally powerful scene.

Then he finds It was Bucky whom had killed his parents, man he nailed that. I was literally rooting for him to kill Bucky then. It was what I would have done on his place. I can't say the same thing for Cap tough, feel like there was something different he could have done altough I am not sure what.

So yes I felt for Tony and wanted him to win. I also expected him to be the one release prisoners at the end but I suppose IT makes more sens for Cap to do it.
So all in all it was totally worth it. I will watch it again once DVD comes out.

    Cheers.

Just got back. What a fantastic movie! Yet another proof that Marvel knows its stuff and that DC has no chance.

    Loved Spider-Man and Ant-Man's lines.

    Also,
I'm glad to see that there still exists some good between Tony and Steve, given that letter at the end.

Both RDJ and the guy who plays Cap whose name escapes me at the moment have said that they don't mind doing the MCU films as long as it's good, and that they've both used their pay-offs to support their other interests (namely RDJ's own film studio and Cap-guys interest in transitioning to directing).

Essentially this to be honest, winter soldier definitely had more of an impact but this managed to blow Bat V Supes out of the water. Not to mention the fact that Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch is probably the hottest thing since ever. Although i do have to say that i really enjoyed Black Panther, i was never a fan of the character but i really enjoyed the badass he was in the film.

I was irritated by the Sharon kiss (Seriously Cap had more chemistry with the helicopter, and it's just creepy when you factor in Peggy's recent death) and by the mispronunciation of Lagos, but other than that I don't have much of a complaint with CA:CW.

Also Vision in a sweater trying to cook paprikás is the best thing I never knew I needed.
