I really liked the first episode back. What they're doing with Castle Beckett romance is good and they got a really good actor in Jack Colemon (from Heros) as a great villan for Beckett's mom's murder. Hopefully this keeps the humor that really made it a favorite of mine from the get go. First episode of season 5 did it well enough.

 

I thought it was a fantastic episode, and Stana Katic looked hotter than hell throughout. So, you know, approval.

 

Man, they really pulled this one off a lot better than I expected. The opening scene had me laughing the whole way through, something that I REALLY wasn't expecting. I was expecting to see something awkward as hell, but thankfully not.

The rest of the episode was great as well, they're putting things back in their places, and things seem as if they'll go back to normal now. It all seemed to work quite well i thought, I especially loved how the whole mystery was dealt with. We definitely got quite a bit more information than I was expecting.

Overall, it was a very solid episode. It wasn't epic, or really exciting, but in terms of handling a situation that they could of screwed up massively, they did a really fucking good job of it.

Looking forward to the next episode.

And let's be honest, the sheer volume of Firefly references at the con was awesome.

 

Meh, it was amusing enough. But I hope that they've got it out their system for another couple of seasons. I'm watching Castle to watch Castle.

Don't get me wrong, I love Firefly, but I'm watching Castle.

I believe that this has become a once-per-season shtick. There won't be anything this overt again until/if the next season arrives.

The actual episode was nice enough. Not Castle at its best but it was a fun enough hour.

The 3XK one was a bit iffy. His plan of escape was so ridiculously convoluted, even for TV land. I am glad that Beckett didn't actually end up doubting Castle though. That happens enough in other shows.

Edit: Now that was a painful episode. Never do that again. Please.

 

So... has Castle jumped the shark? (Again?)

At least they acknowledged the connection to Taken.

 

I dont care if they did, that scene where Castle goes in with the wounded criminal was easily one of the best performances I have ever seen Fillion. I knew it was a show and he even creeped me the fuck out with that blank corpse like stare. Castle has always been hyper protective of Alexis from day one but now we know just how he's willing to go and it really expanded the character for me. Everyone in this two parter were just damned phenomenal.

 

To be honest the big reveal was just meh and I didn't particularly care for it. I cared even less for Castle's reaction which I found to be unbelievable and inconsistent.

Then there was the tidbit with Casino Royal and I just thought "bullshit that's the cause for him to start writing".

Overall, the first episode was great, the second was one of the worst. :/

Still, love the series.

 

I know this is a necro but the latest episode is actually really good in my opinion. The homage to Rear Window was awesome.

 

I think every episode this season has been an homage of one thing or another. The writers are hitting a creative wall. I think they need to start highering more outside help.

 

The thing is I really don't care.

Most shows I go in for the story but I keep watching Castle because it's fun. I still need plot progression, and we do seem to get a little, but mostly the show is just fun.

Same reason I watch Psych.

I actually find myself enjoying Castle less during the more serious episodes.

 

I tend to agree. But good lord, there was a Ring rip off.

As for this episode, I loved it, except for the ending. My reaction was closer to Castle's initial one: "You let me think I was crazy?" That's the moment i would have turned the fuck around, and hobbled out.

Oh, not because I was angry at everyone, especially Beckett, (though i would be) but because of the revelation that there was obviously something wrong with me if everyone I knew and cared about thought I would enjoy something that fucked up.

 

I liked the last episode, it was funny yet it managed to fool me... As I watch Castle for Castle,this makes it a perfect episode.

 

Alright, so I just marathoned every episode over the course of the last 2 weeks. Awesome show. Firefly references were great, especially the first halloween episode where Castle dressed up as Mal. There's not much I don't like about the show. Alexis is hot (especially in that nebula 9 episode), Beckett is hot, the banter is great, castle is funny. I don't really care about the crime-solving per se, but I do love the crazy ideas Castle comes up with.

 

Eh, the alexis/ castle relationship kind of irks me, lol.

That Ep where she put up private stuff on her public blog and had a go at Castle for being upset sealed it for me :-/

The relationships make the show though. Castle and beckett play off each other perfectly, same as espo and Ryan and castle/ espo/ Ryan. You're right though, the plot is virtually secondary, and the fact that I still love the show despite that says a lot.

I can't remember a time I've laughed harder than when Castle left the 'briefing' room or whatever it is and called in that one episode ages ago and announces 'we've got zombies!' before high fiving a random extra.

 

That was great but to me absolutely in that episode trumps when Kyle woke up on the operating table and everyone including Beckett nearly shit themselves to death on the spot ending with Castle on the phone "So is there a police code for zombie on the loose?"
