My Prediction: Next season will the last one. It'll end with something akin to the "3 funerals and a Wedding" type ending. The funerals will likely be 3XK, Castle's Father, and either Smith or Javi.

Am I the only one thinking it was a hit by the associates of the mob boss they put away?

 

I was thinking that was the most obvious answer too. There are some long-standing villains who could be behind it, but that mob guy would definitely have been pissed off at them enough to do it.

Mob boss ties it all up neatly in a fairly self-contained episode, if that's what they were aiming for, but long-standing villain is somewhat more plot relevant.

 

But his name did put the "oh shit we're messing with who's bait?" reaction when Beckett's unknowing-husband dropped the mangled last name and the two of them put it together. My memory is iffy on if that has happened in other episodes where they nab the guy at the end - I think I recall a cartel leader a season or two ago that (Javier?) reacted much the same to. So you're probably right.

I suppose I'd rather it be 3XK just to set the stage for Season 7 from the get-go; he really has a knack for screwing up Castle's life.

 

So, new season of Castle started and I am torn on the newest episode. On one hand, I really like the mystery around Castle's disappearance, on the other hand, one of the strong points of the series was the friendship between Castle and the three detectives and I am not sure I am going to enjoy this whole mistrust business where they have to build everything up again, as I am sure that they still have misgivings.

Still, definitely interesting and I am curious as to where this will go and what was behind all this.

The clues that Castle may have been on other continents and stuff are interesting.

Who knows, maybe they filmed the Uncharted movie and he was just Nathan Drake for that time, looking for treasure or shit. xD

 

That whole episode was just really weird. Mostly on Castle's part. If that were me, I'd be freaking the fuck out, like, in a major way. He just seems to be perturbed at most.

Agreed about messing with the dynamics between the characters. It's pretty much the main reason why I love the show.

This is probably the first time in a while I've been really curious about the plot in Castle. Dunno how I feel about them dragging it out.

On one hand, we'll get more of what I love that way (character moments/ interactions), but on the other, it cheapens things.

 

To be honest I stopped watching Castle in the middle of 6th season. It just made me sad.

 

I stopped at the end of the 5th. Never picked it up again after reading the comments in this thread.

I might go back and rewatch the earlier seasons for nostalgia's sake though.

 

I'm probably the only person still watching/ loving Castle on this forum, so I kinda stopped posting about it.

The show takes a new direction in the latest episode that I absolutely adored though. Figured I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you all to give it another shot.

Totally agree! I loved the competition angle. I dunno if that part will remain (It should), but I just enjoyed Castle being actually pretty cool and smart, more than just a passenger that hangs around the admittedly thin narrative.

 

I might pick Castle back up after I run out of things to watch if I continue to hear good things. Not sure one episode is enough though(Might be one of those writers from the first few seasons that are still on board)

 

I stopped watching when Beckett tried on that wedding dress and changed her mind again. I just said fuck it. My headcanon is 1-3 seasons. Everything after that doesn't exist.

 

I've just caught up on the sixth series (I binge watch on DVD due to UK broadcasting being shit), and I'm still really enjoying it. It's daft, but it's fun. I didn't even find the whole Pi plot line as bad as I was anticipating from reading things here and on Tumblr. I have to say, when I heard about the Private Eye angle, I rolled my eyes a little. Good to know they pulled it off, looking forward to watching it...eventually.
