Lucky: I think the standard advice when that happens is to create a thread in the help forum asking for the account to be activated. You can post as guest there. Include the username of your account.

You might try using a different email first, though.

So, the modification is that you changed the order the roles are added in slightly (taking out Gambler+Survivor) and that witches are now devils?


Taking out the two no-action-roles is actually kinda cool from a "fun roles" perspective but are you sure that doesn't mess with balance too much?

As in, Gambler and Survivor aren't the best townroles around anyway (from a "townpower vs. scumpower" perspective), compared to the extra roles you added in instead (spiritualist(meh), bomber(+town), jester(+++++town))

And taking out those extra lives basically eliminates all selfshoot-wifom (post-jester, ofc).

All judge-situations probably shift to being slighty more townfavored, too.

As for the balance comments, I will not address those as the game is ongoing. However, you are welcome to discuss that post game.

I would have hosted Witchhunt as is (and called it that) but for the fact I would have had to do a Large Theme which I wasn't qualified for yet.

 

Witch Hunt is not a set number of players or roles.

You can play it with like, 6 up to 30 - with a base set + an expansion.

The cards are numbered, so that it's balanced no matter what, or how many play.

I personally recommend between 12 and 18ish for it though.

For optimal balance, you do need to remove the 'back end' of the roles when scaling it down, though, not cherrypicking stuff from the center.

There are 6 required characters that exist in every set - Base, Halftime, King's Court, Lovers.

1. Priest
2. Acolyte
3. Survivalist
4. Gravedigger
5. Judge
6. Apprentice

Theoretically you can play 6-man WH, which is the minimum it supports. (I don't recommend this).

Base set has 12 normal roles:

7. Inquisitor
8. Dirty Old Bastard
9. Benevolent Old Dame
10. Gambler
11. Fanatic
12. Loose Cannon

And 6 more optional ones, for a larger Base Set game:

13. Oracle
14. Jester
15. Bomber
16. Spiritualist
17. Nurse
18. Assassin

So that scales a 'Base Set' Witch Hunt anywhere from 6-18 players, just find the # of players in the game, and take all the roles from 1 to that.

Keeps it balanced, and scaling, and is interesting design.

Right, the expansions.

If you have more than 18 players in the game, you can choose one of the expansions - a set of 12 roles that can be tacked on. So theoretically WH supports a 30 player game? 18 base set + 12 expansion.

That'd be... an undertaking in a forum setting, though. Replacement nightmare.

Draft 1 done, with issues. I'm retooling some roles.

Sorry about the delay everyone, but I did say it would take a while~. It's not easy to balance everyone's desires and give everyone satisfactory powers.

 

You gotta do the right thing for the game!!

That being said if retooled while I am away on the week of the third don't be afraid to start it please for everyone's enjoyment. I will adjust don't get me wrong it isn't ideal but adjusting for the past year or so has been my life.

 

I'm certainly curious to see how my role will be affected by any retooling deemed necessary. Thanks for the update LC.

 

Rejigger my role as needed, even if it's not exactly what I submitted. I care more about the mental fuckery than the exact role I submitted or alignment assigned.
