Anyone else excited? I live 5 minutes away from an IMAX, so I'll be going to see it in style.

Oh, hell yes am I excited. A Japanese monster movie from the perspective of the civilians? I can't wait.

On that note, I hope it's at the Ultrascreen when it comes out. It feels like it would be wrong to see this movie on a smaller screen.

Looks to be a good movie from the previews. Sadly, I have no money to go see anything. I'll have to wait for it on DVD.

I agree. Hopefully orgasmic, but trailers have tricked me before.

I won't see the movie until I'm totally sure the monsters aren't pink bunnies from Happy Three Friends.

I dunno I've only seen a few monster movies that were actually worth it, that said I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one.

I'm sort of skeptical, the last real monster movie that I thought was good was Godzilla...

Just got back from seeing Cloverfield. I had a good time with this movie. I thought that is was a very interesting way to present the whole giant monster attack genre. Very much worth the $5 I had to spend to see it. A word of caution though, those of you with motion sickness issues should probably pass or take a Dramamine. My roomate got quite ill during the movie since it its all filmed from a handheld digital camera.

In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
Annoying camera angle. I thought it was good, but not even close to all it was hyped to be. A little disappointing. That's all I will say for now.

That movie was good; very exciting, and the monster was...interesting. Just out of curiosity, does anyone here have any idea what the hell that monster was? It was the strangest looking giant monster I'd ever seen, for the few moments that one could see it, at least.

The ending was...extremely well done. Everyone at the theater seemed pissed, but I think that the method was more dramatic than anything else they could have done.

I think there was something fighting that monster other than the soldiers. For the brief second I could see it, it looked like it could have been Godzilla...

I'm not ussually a man of few words but this time I will be...

This movie was amazing and all movie standards should be set on it.

P.S. When you see this movie sit close up to the screen, its like nothing you've ever seen before.

I just saw it... and like The Duke said. I was upclose, not by choice but because of seating.

I thought it was flippin awesome. Up close rocks, especially near the end when the thing happens and the guy turns back and the monsters like... yea. That was pretty sweet.

Also for the military battle you really feel like your in a war zone.

    Did anyone else notice though

at the end when they show the clip from the ferris wheel. A egg like things hits the water briefly.

That could be the monsters origin.

Also anyone who is going to see it, wait till the end, because theres some kind of radio chatter. I couldn't understand it myself but it's clearly some kind of hint.

    I fully anticipate a sequel.

I was confused though why people were booing. People seemed genuinely angry at the end. I honestly thought it was a great movie. It wasn't transformers good, but of all the hand held camera movies out there, this was easily the best of them all.

From what I have read, the radio chatter at the very end say's "It's still alive." They just played it backwards

The movie is fun in the most fun visceral way, but I left the theater thinking, "Okay, so what does it mean?" The answer is nothing.

It strikes me as the same hollow spectacle as "Beowulf," or "300"

That's not to say its bad, I just feel like this is disposable entertainment.

The things that it seemed to say are twofold 1.) That unprecedented attacks are scary and 2.) When attacked, people have a strong urge to couple.

    That's what I observed.

I thought it was good. The story was captivating, the actors were decent. To me the monster resembled a cross between a crab and a shark of some kind. Then again, that's just me.

I'm probably going to go see it again tonight lol, the monster babies were fuckin sweet-ass. I never noticed the egg hitting the water at the end though, I'll be shure to watch for that.
