I haven't actually read the raws or anything, but these are my opinions:

The whole conflict with the Radiant Church took place about 2000 years ago. He killed the leader, and all the leaders and everybody responsible were killed as well. It's a conflict resolved and left behind long ago. I don't even know if the Radiant Church exists anymore. So it's highly unlikely that he'll be involved with that in any way anymore.

As for another animal companion, again, highly unlikely. Since only this and two books are left, he just doesn't have the time or interest, imo. Haru always played second fiddle to Bebe and was left behind easily, so I really doubt that there will be any real companion. As for Reisgem, the amethyst lion, he's also a commander of the Planar War, and probably a bit stronger than Linley at the moment. He only helped Linley out because a Sovereign told him to. We might meet him again, but him becoming a magical companion is basically impossible.

Oh, we did get to meet Reisgem again. Unsurprising, but cool. And it looks like my estimate was wrong, he's massively more powerful than Linley, looks like another Paragon-level expert. And with him acting as Linley's squad leader at the moment... yeah, him becoming a soul-bonded "animal companion" of any sort is utterly ludicrous.

Well, the Planar War arc just got a lot more interesting, imo.

 

Bebe has been either useless or OP as fuck this entire story.

 

He's a one trick pony. Often those sorts are useful to have around.

His trick just happens to be stupidly OP.

 

The last few chapters finally has something interesting happening again. The Planar battlefield has been boring until now lol.

Anyway we are the end-game now. Only two more volumes. I wonder who the main villain is. Probably

Coiling Dragon went out with a bang, huh. Good times.

It felt like the author was super bored and trying to rush the story to end in the last book. I'd even say after Linley became a Paragon. There was so much stuff he could have written, but he just decided to start skipping thousands of years. I'd have loved to see more of Linley's Emissaries other than their brief physical description and the one plot-relevant one. The final battle was abrupt and basically SSJ exponential power increases.

Still, most of the time it's been great. Ending was rushed and the early and late parts are massively different, especially in how secondary characters are treated (ugh that first love interest chick and all her screen time), but this will still probably always be one of my favorite stories that got me into a whole new genre.

 

Dylin stilll remains the most badass character, "keep going north and I'll let you know when I'm done conquering you"

 

Ploughed through this in about a week. It was my first chinese novel I've read and I liked it a lot. Probably due to how different everything is from the usual Western or Jap stuff I read.

 

So I just found this. Not how I pictured anything at all.

EDIT: Definitely not how I pictured Grandpa Cowart.

 

Oh god don't even look at that, your mental image of Linley will be ruined.

Some Xianxia manga adaptions are all right, like Dou Po Cang Qiong (Battle Through the Heavens), but that Coiling Dragon manga is shit.
