Not really. Most DLP members are pretty indifferent to Ginny these days. You'd have to go all the way back to, say, 2007, to see any real widespread Ginny hate. H/G is my second favourite pairing, after H/Hr.

No, the problem with Echos of Power isn't that it's H/G. The problem is that it's shit in almost every respect.

    Wat.

I thought you - along with a sizable chunk of DLP - hated H/Hr? Or am I missing the trollface action following the other clowns claiming Perfect Lionheart's shit is anything other than that - complete and utter shit?

    H/Hr is just fine.

The Harmonian, on the other hand, must be cleansed with righteous fiendfyre.

Well, I dislike much of H/Hr fanfic as it's often written - just like I dislike much of H/G fanfic. But I like H/Hr in my mind.

He quite handily tussles up a few death eaters in one go but that is all he does the entire story. I suppose he is competent in the respect that he does what you expect cannon Dumbledore to be capable of, however I believe the OP was wanting a more pro-active, powerful Dumbledore, who leads the charge per say.

He does a fair bit more in one of Jbern's other fics, To Fight the Coming Darkness, where he actually tries to kill Voldemort. But to read that you have to go through characters who employ their own signature spells.

Twi5ted's Dumbledore from memory was quite good I thought and if you really fancy delving into the murky depths of 2004 fanfiction there is Abraxen's Refiners fire where Dumbledore and Harry are ludicrously overpowered due to a wizarding illness. It makes me ill thinking of that story really, magical trunks, shopping trips. Eurgh.

Twi5ted had amazing battle scenes, and I agree that his Dumbledore was very good.

Heh. Have you read Partially Kissed Hero? I mean, those battle scenes with Dumbledore... unbelievable.

What I liked about his characterization in "Lie" was that he didn't do much of anything; he wasn't evil, he wasn't manipulating, he was just sort of there, not doing too much. Which is what I look for in a background character.

TFtCD has a great Voldemort; very believable.

The joke is getting stale, like that partially eaten soul.. fuck

Some of the Dumbledore deaths are pretty funny, admittedly, but I'm afraid some newbie will go and actually read the story the more we keep talking about it.

Yeah sorry I linked the wrong story the correct one is what you posted.

    http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3787073/1/More_Equal_Than_You_Know

The incorrect one is still good but it does not include Dumbledore so I fear it is a bit irrelevant to this thread.

More Equal than you Know is excellent though and I very much recommend it. Obsidian Warlock has excellent plot development and character development. Plus his take on magic is refreshing. Check it out.

Agreed. Most H/HR is just shit and makes Hermione into this amazing asskicking woman who controls Harry's every move.

Is there any good Harry/Hermione stories out there? There is almost an epic story for every pairing but this one.

I always pictured a Harry/Hermione romance to be epic. Emotional, powerful and consumes everything but in the end it would never work out or get a happy ending. This is the reason why I feel it's so hard to write.

I dislike Partially Kissed Hero and have never been able to finish it.

More Equal than you Know has a pretty awesome Dumbledore but there is something with that story that bugs me. I think it's how perfect Harry is.

Damnit we need more competent awesome Dumbledore.

    Is our children learning?

There are a few, but little that I'd deem "epic," at least not yet, though Wit and VINCET could be in time. Some that are readable:

    Vox Corporis by MissAnnThropic
Lily Potter and the Worst Holiday by bobsaqqara
Wit of the Raven by japanese-jew (seems to be heading toward H/Hr)
VINCET by nos tres reges (likewise)
HP and the Sword of Gryffindor by cloneserpents. Somewhat readable H/Hr smut. (I found it a little tedious after awhile, but whatever).

Among the best, in my opinion, are Full Pensieve's H/Hr stories.

    I wrote a recent longish one-shot that's H/Hr as well.

Wit seems to be abandoned, or at best has an extremely erratic updating schedule. The General by nos tres reges is also likely to be H/Hr.
canoncansodoff writes half-decent smut, but I can't say there's a lot to recommend his plots. I think I read his 7th year AU when I first started reading fanfiction. It wasn't too terrible, but if you can't stomach slow pacing and vast overuse of muggles/technology, then it probably isn't for you.
