This shit keeps happening to my Mom's computer, at least twice a year, I always wind up just formatting and reinstalling it's such a pain in the ass to deal with. I have no idea where the hell they keep picking it up from either =/

I've fixed a few computers for people that this has happened to: my father-in-law, wife's uncle, and most amusingly a friend from work's granddad (who had malware that changed his home page to porn and dropped links to animal porn on his desktop every time he booted).*

Once your machine has been infected, it's going to be suspect forever. Are you sure that you don't have a keylogger installed that's sending your e-mail password to China? Are you REALLY sure?

Burn your data off onto a CD/DVD. Then reformat your entire drive and reinstall your OS and applications. Get a good A/V and anti-malware and set them to scan your files every week. Then scan the CD before you even consider recovering your data.

*FWIW, what happened in all three cases was a combination of a good old-fashioned e-mail virus ("Don't open attachments? But it said "You have to see this!!!!!!!!!.exe") and no updates/antivirus.

Thats the mentality I use. If I'm not 90%+ sure my PC is clean, I reinstall. I'll be honest with myself, I'm never 100% sure I'm secure, I am "acquiring" a fucking OS off the net, be goddamned if I'll ever pay 300$ for a copy I want. 100$, sure if it works good, but I'm not paying 100$ for a gimped down version.

I would just try to get your crucial data off your hdd's and just reformat and reinstall.

Of course what everyone else said. XD
