I know what you mean.. I prefer harry with older females or a slytherin.. I don't think anyone else can really connect to him on a mature level otherwise

 

I can't really start to care one way or the other about Luna.

I think she's someone who was tossed in just so the three boys (harry/ron/nev) would have someone to be involved with herm/ginny/luna

And yeah i see her as Hermione's oppisite.

I can't see her playing any sort of part in the upcoming canon stories worth caring about, as the character itself is just plain annoying to read.

*snickers* ... yeah.. thats what it seems like... though i find her an interesting change to hermione's badgering, shes probably wont be THAT important... but she can be both fun and annoying... seems a lot of people make her some super intelligent girl acting like a crack .. or just plain off her rocker.. though if you get it in the middle it isnt too bad..

 

Yeah but the problem is, if you get her in the middle, and keep her there, she basically becomes an entirly new character.

I liked her in one story i've reada long time ago. Her dad was tortured to death in front of her, and it was enough to snap her out of her dazed and confused state.

 

Luna is Luna. that's all there is.

 

I'd buy the Idiot savant type angle for her. Not the ultra smart one, but acts like a loon so ppl with underestimate her, but maybe above average intelligence.

I'd write her as someone a memory charm went bad on earlier in life. Like she saw her mom murdered by a important person, and they screwed the Mem charm in a rush to leave.

oh and before I forget I would also like to state that I dispise hermoine/ron parings as well as snape/anyone. maybe umbrides dementor can take care or my problem with snape?

 

Ron/anybody other than the Grim Reaper- It's just weird. How can anybody, other than a Dementor, stand a guy like him???

Harry/anyone male- Although I'm not against homosexuality, I just find it weird when it's written down on paper.

Lily/Snape- Umm...eww?

I just really, really dislike Lily being paired up with Snape/Remus. It's wrong and I like James/Lily ships a lot and I don't want my view of them tainted.

I wanted to rant for a minute.

I DESPISE Harry/Severus. My favorite example of this is in Shade Dancer's Deceptive Appearances, early on it says.

WHAT THE FUCK!?! I'm a big fan of Blood Prince and Heir of Blood, but this story is just not believable. Snape is a bastard. Period. If he isn't a bastard than you have to SHOW him changing and not being a bastard. In Blood Prince it works cause Harry and Snape have NO relationship and history. The second she made it take place in the present she had an obligation to explain WHY Snape is no longer an asshole, or at least show a gradual change and Snape grudgingly respecting Harry. (this ignores the whole pedophilia thing and just focuses on a story telling perspective.)

Same thing with Draco Malfoy, except Draco is even harder because Draco doesn't have a secret, mysterious past. We know how Draco spent his formative years, studying at Hogwarts. We know his background, son of Lucius and Narcissa. Dad was probably a little hard on him.

 

I have seen some pretty bad couplings... But here are in my opinion the creme de la crap of the crop.

Harry/Umbridge- yes it exists... I saw one fic *shudders*
Harry/Draco- Poorly written + slash = Giovanni no read.
Harry/Ginny- I have actually seen a couple of these that I can stomach... Dumbledore's Army and Spiritus Crystalus by Bobmin386 or 356 I forget which on ff.net
Harry/Voldemort (consenual)- Some of these authors should have been drowned at birth
Harry/Cho- The bitch is crazy.
Harry/Severus- Snape... Greasy haired potions master with 20 years on Harry plus 30 years of hatred towards his family? Yeah... riiiiiight.
Hagrid/Severus- Again YES it does indeed exist... *shudders*

One more thing.

THE SEVERITUS CHALLENGE MUST DIE!!! Most *scratches out most* ALL are poorly written.

 

I agree with you on everything but Cho/Harry .

And I DESPISE the Severitus challenge. So far, what we know about Severus Snape and Lily Potter is this: She tried to defend him from bullies, in response he called her a mudblood. Because of this comment she called him Snivellus.

This is it. This is the most BULLSHIT pairing ever, and I have NEVER seen one that I liked simply because I can't get over this hurdle because most others dismiss it and don't address it. THey just have Severus be intimate with Lily, and have some long history together.

 

There is only one single Severitus fic that I like, which is E.M. Snape's In Blood Only. No bullshit romance between Snape and Lily, it's as simple as her coming to him one night and having sex with the greasy git as payback for James having an affair of his own. No pretense about the two loving one another or anything.
