Ya ignoring maggots for a bit, I'm with Lord Ravenclaw on the H/G love potion theory, JKR made a bit too big a fuss about the Romilda Vane love potion thing to have it only be a reason for Ron's poisoning...btw are there any fics that are H/Romilda? Might be an interesting challenge...

    Some I truly hate are

    Harry/any other male

I am a guy, and Harry being gay is not my thing, I avoid any slash, but if the story is very good and the slash is not obvious I might ignore it, but the ones where Harry suddenly starts making out with adults (Snape, Lupin, etc.) Those are just plain disgusting, imagine your 15 year old friend hooking up with a 30 something male, thats sick.

    H/G Overused

H/H Okey, I admit it, I hate Hermione more then Ginny, I have since I first started reading HP in 1999.

    Harry/Lily

Yes, there is a fic like that out there, I was reading it and I did not notice the signs, then BOOM, Harry is making out with his mom, and the author in some perverse way thinks that it is perfectly acceptable and even cute.

H/Cho Well, I dont really like Cho that much since HPToOtP

Remus/Sirius Come on, in the third book they hugged like BROTHERS, not lovers. I hate those pairings, mostly since I love those two caracters.

H/ Narricssa or Ballatrix Oh come on, Those two wommen are hated by Harry.

H/Tonks She is to old, and all the ones I read are not even that good.

H/ Anyone whatsoever, unless they are well writen.

Eh, not important now since we have strayed of topic, but oh well.

Harry/Ginny and any slash. I can stand almost any other pairings.

i can stand almost any heterosexual pairing that doesn't dominate a story.

meaning, if it's in the periphery of a story's plot, but not integral to it.

yes, even H/G if it's low-key and not "love saves the day" bullshit.

buut...if i had to throw down some pairings i really disfavor, i'd say (in no particular order).

slash pairings with main characters. this includes femslash with main female characters. why? because it's so damn OUT of character. at least with current canon. i mean, they're what? 14-17 years old? sure they can come out of the closet eventually, but i doubt anyone outside of colin creevy or milicent bulstrode has characteristics leading up to it.

i especially LOATHE harry/draco and harry/severus. what is wrong with people?

het pairing's i'm not fond of (usually because they're overdone, or not done too well, or in the case of ginny or hermione are always used in a LOVE CONQUERS ALL plotline. and harry's a weak little bitch in those. because girl writers, and some guy ones, for some reason like to turn harry into a fairy that no girl in real life would respect, much less drop their panties for.) /rant

harry/ginny - overdone and usually the core of the LOVES SAVES EVERYONE plotline
harry/bellatrix - he hates her. she's a psychotic bitch. and i've yet to read a believable "bellatrix redeemed story".
harry/narcissa - see above. although, narcotic was a great story.
harry/OC (because people usually don't know how to write OC's unless they are mary sues) - however, harry/OC, imo, always has the best potential for a great pairing.
harry/hermione (although, i stomach this one more than the others. just it also almost always falls into the same bullshit harry/ginny does.)
harry/cho - cho's a nutcase. and she's chinese. i've seen too many stories try to make her out to be some japanese geisha or something. although, dakaath is high on my list of enjoyable stories.

theres always exceptions. but like i said, i don't mind most het pairings...just how they're used.

oh, perhaps my most hated pairing in HP fandom is ron/hermione.

it has nothing to do with liking either character. i like smart girls...so a genuinely developed hermione (out of superbitchbossymode!hermione is palatable)...and i've never liked ron whatsoever. not since book one. crux of it is that i'd never pick someone like ron as a friend. for a lot of reasons.

but logically, i simply cannot see how r/hr works. ever. in any fic. ever. either you have to make ron smarter, or hermione really girlish and stupid - and i've yet to see a fic where r/hr makes any kind of sense.

that ship annoys me to the point that i can barely read stories that have r/hr in it...even if gets only minimal attention.

i'm not a big fan of harry/harem...but i can be in the mood for it now and again.

i think i like harry/many over a period of time...because dammit - that's what people do when they're at that age.

and using the theme that "in the wizarding world people get married earlier" doesn't cut it.

so james and lily married young, had harry young, and died young. who else set such a precedent? do we know for sure that arthur and molly married right out of hogwarts? not that i recall.

and outside of that, what the hell else are these people basing the "true love at 16" on?

    fin.

On that one point, yeah...I tend to get extremely irritated with fics that try to portray Cho as Japanese. Her name is very obviously Chinese or possibly Korean at a small stretch, but definitely not Japanese. Should I want a Japanese girl in a story, then I'll just make one.

I think referring to her as a nutcase is extremely unfair also. A girl crying a lot after losing a loved one and trying to move on to a new relationship a bit too fast only to have it naturally fail doesn't really hint at insanity.

    point noted and ceded.

although, in addition to trying to rebound too fast after cedric...there's the inane jealousy of hermione and mistrust of harry's intentions.

while "nutcase" is strong...she just might suffer from more neuroses than the average girl. and the average girl suffers from plenty of neuroses. as do we all i guess. :)

**drums roll** Who didn't see that Lord Sera would come to Cho's rescue?
    :p

But yeah, from Cho's name alone, I would think she was half chinese and half korean (Cho's a korean first name).

I probably don't 'hate' any pairings, but I just don't read slash, H/Hr and H/G. Actually I don't read many Honks either since bad ones of this kind are now floating around.

That may be true, but considering she barely knew the guy before he bought the farm, I wouldn't call it love. Maybe lust or something. Hell at that age an average hot girl goes through guys like a knife through butter, having her get so distraught about him, and then getting the hots for the guy that got her man killed was unrealistic. The way she bawled her head off ruined the character for me.

If they'd been together like from 3rd or 4th year on, then maybe I could of bought the upset crying Cho, but then it'd have to of been the whole year, not some hysterical breakdown the way it was written.

Cho Pre-OOTP I'm with you on, loved it. Post -OOTP JKR just butchered her IMHO. You've got the only H/Cho fic that's been out in quite some time that I actually like, or liked. (I haven't read the fic in some time now, you started going off into a few things I was going to do if I ever finish my fic, and I wanted to be able to not know what you did that way I didn't inadvertatly copy anything. Sucks I can't finish reading the story damnit!)

In that case, I'd think it'd make more sense for you TO read it and know how I did things so you didn't copy by accident. I wouldn't be arsed if you borrowed some stuff anyway, inadvertantly or not.

As for Cho...HBP confirmed one thing for me that explains her behavior regarding Cedric and Harry. Jo Rowling absolutely cannot write romance to save her life. She has no real comprehension regarding how the whole thing works, and thus she's messed it up any time she's tried to dabble in it. Evidence can be seen with Cho, with the whole horrible Hermione/Weasel/Lavender triangle, and with the cliched and disgustingly rushed Harry/Ginslut hookup.

Nah, trust me I want to, but I want to be able to say with a clear mind, even if it's just to myself, that the ideas I use and how I take them have no outside influence. If I wind up accidentally mimicking something, then we can kick back over a Ginny corpse fire and talk about how great minds look alike.

As for the HBP comment, I've been thinking more about that in the last bit, and I feel my hatred for Cho decreasing, as you do make a good point.

I still don't understand Lavender.. wtf was with the bling chain she gave won-won?@?@? I mean Jesus....

I'm like pretty much everyone on this site in that I hate Harry/Ginny. I also hate Ron/Hermione and am slowly developing a hatred for Harry/Hermione fics although not the entire pairing in itself, just because the fics are so horrible really. well, most of them anyway. I've found I can't write the pairing either, though. Mostly because I don't have the patience or time.

Harry/Luna on the other hand, happens to be my favorite pairing, and it totally pisses me off that there aren't enough good fics for them, or for Luna in general really.

Harry/Cho I have no opinion on however. I just feel that Cho's character needs some major development and background for her to really be interesting as a person.

Slash would have to be written pretty well for me to stomach it. I'm inclined to believe it is nothing more than another way for female writers to live in a fantasy world where 'male' and 'inherently evil' are not found in the same sentence. For that reason alone it is difficult for my poor eyes to witness. (incase there's any doubt, I am male)

The generation gap thing in some other fics does bother me a bit but only if its the male thats much older, because honestly people can be very different ages and still be in the same place in their development spiritually and mentally, if not emotionally as well. It's something I know firsthand.

I'm glad someone liked Narcotic Effects (thanks Syn) I hope it was semi-believable. I'm working to figure out a way to get a good Bella one (cause Black Kisses isn't what I wanted it to be) and I have a few good ideas.

Anyway, as for the actual reason I posted, I wanted to say my ultimate favorite pairing would be *sarcasm* Harry/Winky. Can't you just feel the love? *sarcasm off* yes, I have seen it.

Oh, there's always the occasionaly Harry/Myrtle, and I've seriously thought about writing some one shots for both pairings just to piss people off.

There is no more honorable reason out there for writing fanfic. It's even nobler than writing because you are pissed off.

And I'd love to read Harry/Winky. Probably for the wrong reasons, but we won't get into that right now.

Ok, I found this in Harry Potter and the Manipulator of Destiny by Wheezy1. I think its going to be a heavy H/Hermione, and its found in our Independent forum. Its not supposed to mean anything and maybe its only my own disturbed mind that picked up on it but still...
