That means being bigger than the HRE and Persia in five generations or less. And yes, a king that only lasts five years due to assassination and/or wounded counts as a generation in a Succession game.

How do these work? Is there a link or FAQ I can see?

I love CK2 but haven't heard of this. Sounds interesting.

It's essentially just playing as one character, saving the game upon his death, then sending the save file off to the next bloke.

    Example of Succession Games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAIZ0_gMhiU&list=PLH-huzMEgGWDoToOjJ5it6yvggVMs53_G&index=1

    Succession Games FAQ: http://forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/164393/crusader-kings-2-succession-learning-game

Basically, it's a great way of doing multiplayer... without actually doing multiplayer. A succession game is rather like a relay face. We all play as one leader each and pass on the game (save life) to the next player when the current leader dies. The aim is that before we reach the end of the last player's reign, our country becomes the largest realm in the world.

And yeah, count me in. I'd prefer it if we started off somewhere else though.

If we start in Ireland it's going to be pretty boring for the first player, since there's really only one thing he can do at that point; try to unify Ireland. He could go for a few provinces in Spain, I guess, but that's difficult in the early game when you don't have many troops and need to budget your mercenary choices.

If we're going for Count-Emperor, I'd suggest starting off in Rus or Cumania. More difficult, but lots more fun even in the early game (which is all we're going to get at 5 rulers tops). Especially if we start in the Old Gods era.

Count me in as well. I'd reccomend the Old Gods start, and any two county count regardless of location or culture. That said I think a Roman Reconquest game would be fun.

We have GL, klackerz, Aekiel, Banta, and myself. That should be enough people to pull off a Succession Game.

The next order of business will be deciding when we plan to start this game. Next week? The week after? This discussion will also probs determine the order in which we'll play so that we take into account people's availabilities.

The other order of business is determining our county and start-date for our Count->Emperor game. Since all DLCs will be active, I recommend either Ireland or Spain, as the Sunset Invasion will provide the later players will an extra... challenge.

Me, I prefer to start in Ireland in the Old Gods start. Yay, Norse raiders.

Preferably next week, so I can buy, install and try the recent DLCs.

More inclined towards playing in the Mid-East or Central Europe, but I don't mind too much. And earlier the better for start date, as ever.

I have every major dlc's except the Old God and the Son's of Abraham dlc and I really don't want to spend 25$ on those two.

Anyway I haven't played CK2 in a long time and I really need to play some more before I get my chance.

I'm willing to play if you want an extra person.

On a related note: how many of you have played Victoria II? I love EUIV and decided to try Victoria II, and while it's not a bad game, I struggle to enjoy it as much as EUIV and CKII. Is that echoed by anyone else or is it just me?

Unless you really enjoy demographics, Vic2 might not be the game for you.

I did play a lot of it, but I also enjoy just looking at statistics. You might want to read some AARs first, if you have a hard time getting started.

Old God is probably the best DLC out there it really offers a lot of cool functions an the new start is great.

Spain could be a decent place to start off in the Old Gods era. The only counts are either part of Aquitaine or Asturias, so we'll be starting off in a fairly weak position, but with plenty of room to expand. Especially if we can get Umayyad to collapse early on. High Intrigue stat HOOOOOOOOOO!

Yeah, I've read a fair few AARs and in theory and concept the game seems awesome. It's just that when actually playing it, it isn't that fun. I haven't done many campaigns yet but the game just doesn't draw me back in like EUIV and CKII.

I'm also good to start next Monday. In fact, I'm happy to go first and start off. Since Klack doesn't have Old Gods and Sons of Abraham, we'll have to have to start without those two DLCs. That means that a County in Ireland, Spain, and the Byzantine Empire are our options. Thoughts?

Equinox, we'd love for you to play. Banta, let us know when you'd like to play.

---------- Post automerged at 05:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:57 PM ----------

Current order, assuming that each person will only need two-three days or so:

    Zeitgeist->Grinning Lizard->klackerz->Aekiel->Banta->Equinox.

We'll be doing it Ironman Mode, and your heirs will need to be named after the next person in the game. Aim: Try to own half the map and be the largest state in the map by the end of Equinox's game.

Love to be involved, but I don't have the time right now. Hopefully it works out and I can get in on a future game. Any intention of writing a DLP AAR?

Ireland would probably be a little boring. I'm in favour of the Byzantines, though Spain would also be fun.

Depending on when this gets going and how long it takes I may need to move up the order too--though only if this takes up until the end of March.
