I like the idea of Jon and Victarion hanging out together.

Also, poor Tyrion. Father fucks him over yet again.

Never had a fanatic for the Old Gods bit. Hell, never even had one with the Green Dreams/Seer trait, but maybe that's because I play more often as a Bolton than a Stark.

Do tell though, how exactly do you start up a cadet branch of a family? What requirements do you need to fulfill?

There's an option underneath legitimise in the event menu thing. There's quite a bit of stuff that needs to happen (you need 2000 prestige but cheats can solve that) as well as the bastard you want to start a cadet branch with needing to actually be good at something i.e one stat needs to be above 15.

I also think it only works for the Paramount houses and the Targs. I've played a couple of Games as Bloodraven as the cadet house Goldfyre so it's not Stark exclusive at least.

As for fanatic Old gods follower, I get it as House Blackwood a lot but I've seen plenty of northerners with it in one instance a converted Wyman Manderly so I think it's reletively common. One of his sons married a Frey in that game actually and she also died in mysterious circumstances so There's a chance Frey Pies happened in this case as well.

Only had Green dreams once as one of Jon Snow's children in a previous game. He ended up with a pig as a companion though which was a bit underwhelming. I know the Starks proper get a bonus towards getting a direwolf though.

I'm playing a game as Ned Stark, and my spare is the goddamm animal whisperer; he has a martial of 25 because he has a direwolf, dog, eagle, crow, and brown bear as a pet. Holy shit.

EDIT: I spoke too soon. He now has a wolf as well, making his martial skill a whopping 27. I'm strongly considering killing my heir, because Osric seems to have Jon beat in every regard.

So I'm thinking about a CK2 Succession Game.

Tehan is already on board for it, but is anyone else up for a game?

Not sure if we'd be playing regular CK2 or the Game of Thrones mod, but I guess that can be decided as a group. Also, all the main DLCs will be required for this, so if you don't have them you'll have to pick them up somewhere.

I'd be down. But please, just regular CK2.

I'd also like to be a part of the succession game. As Banta said, Vanilla CK2 please.

Do you mean with or without the DLCs?

The only DLC I'd suggest not turning on would the Aztec one.

Gotcha, in that case we have four players.

Ideally we'd start at five, with more joining in if we get that far.

    Anyway, opinions on country/start date?

Ireland in 1066, but with the requirement of world conquest.

Meh, World Conquest is boring. Ireland even more so.

I've recently been playing a game where I've tried to make my way across the map, holding only three kingdoms at any one time. I started as the Duke of Moray in Scotland and plan to hold Scotland, Russia and one of the Indian Kingdoms by game end.

That's proving to be something of a challenge.

For this though I'd say any random duke, but to embrace the first heresy that comes my way and to turn it into the dominant religion in Europe. Probably the Cathar heresy; that one seems to be popular.

Self-imposed predestination is good for keeping single-player games interesting, but succession games are all about each character having a very different motivating force behind them. I'd argue that the only 'rule' for what to do would be to roleplay your man to some degree, albeit without driving our realm into the ground - the single generation would mean that people will tend to choose interesting over optimal anyway.

I'm in. And maybe a central European Duke?

Which are these, for the record? I have a few but im missing the jew one, and the old gods I think. Wouldn't be a big pain to pick them up (probably) but I havent played in a while to see if new ones came out.

And we have our starting number.

Central European Duke sounds workable, though I'd prefer outside of the HRE if we start in 1066. Perhaps one of the Polish Dukes or a Hungarian.

Start date wise I find that Old Gods starts either go spectacularly well for the first couple of rulers or they end really freaking quickly. For the record, Fuck Lotharingia and its habit of inheriting Italy. I wouldn't be adverse to starting in 1066 though.

Anyway, we need a few ground rules:

    • You play for a minimum of 10 years or until the death of your ruler.
    • No save scumming.
    • AARs are optional but encouraged, even if it's just a recap of what you did.
    • You have two weeks to play through, otherwise you're skipped and the save file goes to the next in line.
    • Be reasonably quick about sending the save file off after you're done, too.

Honestly, I'm not sure which ones are required and which ones aren't, any more.

I can see why a time limit would be useful if we had a lot of players, but we only have five/six. Why not wait until monarch death before passing it on?

Also, if we go with the 866 start we're probably going to have to start in Moravia or the HRE. Not bad choices, but limiting.

Why not start as Romuva or somunesko in the 1066 start, they still have a few province if memory serve. Will be a tough start but more interesting than Ireland or Christian Europe (in my opinion, last time I played Christian, Fratecelli became the main religion of Prydain and christianism.)

Try playing as duke of Wielkopolska - you have a liege that is very keen on picking fights with HRE and in the north you have some pagans to burn, rape, pilag... I mean convert to one true religion :p And you can always try to depose your liege and become king of Poland.
