So, the guys that made the video game adaptation of The Witcher and The Witcher 2 are back at it again, this time with Cyberpunk 2077, based off of Cyberpunk 2020 the tabletop RPG setting.

Best part is that they're working with the guy who created the setting in the first place so that they don't fuck it up :D.

I'm going to be watching this one very closely, though the estimated release date is 2015.

    Trailer here:

A Cyberpunk 2020/2077 thread of sorts already exists, but yes, I agree with the potential awesomeness to be had here.

It's been five years since it was announced?

    Anyway, from E3 2018 thread.

Things definitely changed since that teaser and some people are complaining about it. I will wait for more nightly and rainy scenes before joining them. ;)

That said the narration and presentation is somehow similar to this Ready Player One trailer in my opinion.

Someone on reddit found these as maybe possible classes in the game and now I really want to play as a corporate with a possibility of becoming CEO of the most powerful megacorp in the city. It would be quite original to have all these usual mission against corporations in reverse where you protect them, find and deal with hacker who managed to get into them, do some corporate espionage and deal with your rivals for a promotion by either spying on them yourself or hiring someone to do that for you.

In my opinion, the original trailer was just a teaser was just that... a teaser. The new one looks just as awesome to me. I think the voice-over dialog was a bit silly. They should have been a bit more serious or left it blank.

    Wow that was bad.

It looks more like your average scifi shooter that someone like Deep Silver would plop out than a CD Projekt game.

Yeah apart from the cheesy voiceover, and assuming it's still CyoC, I think it still looks pretty damn interesting. Can't wait for the deluge of details they're supposedly going to have at their booth.

How so? What made the in-engine trailer bad, aforementioned voice-over aside?

I dunno. The Witcher was very serious... I'd rather more Fifth Element than Bladerunner tbh... (aware the former isn't 'in genre')

It's just a trailer though. We don't know nearly enough yet. Give it time.

I don’t think it will be as serious as the Witcher. Definitely more of a blade runner vibe...but that’s not a bad thing.

I think the story will be on point.

Aye. Blade Runner meets Miami Vice is the feel the trailer throws off. And I am not at all averse to this.

We don't know enough about the game to say anything with confidence, but CDPR has earned no small amount of good will and trust over the years, so I'm definitely willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

Yeah, same. The setting of the game doesn't interest me all that much, but they did such a good job with Witcher 3, to the point where it's arguably my favorite game of the past ten years, that I will likely buy any game they put out regardless of what it is. And it will probably be amazing.

I'll be genuinely shocked if they left gameplay out of the conferences. I expect an interview with details on the world, but I'm hoping I'm proven wrong.

Hah, dimension hopper Ciri looking around in absolute befuddlement or wonder would be kinda great...

Oh it's going to happen for sure. Probably in a small side mission of some sort where you help her out of trouble or she pops out to save you.

That said, I would fucking love it if they were just blatant about it and she spends the game as a quirky side-character, along the lines of Ves or Zoltan, claiming she's from another world.

I would be so happy if Ciri just ends up joining the PCs retinue and just hangs out with the other support characters.

Ciri mentioned hopping to a futuristic dimension at one point during Witcher 3. Maybe that was just a plug for the game, but a cameo’s not out of the question.
