She is a blank slate, that's true, that's why I was trying to look at the people/interactions hinted at/glimpsed at around her in an effort to see what she would most likely be like as a fully fleshed out canon character, and what would make the most sense. As mentioned before, it's conjecture.

If she was in Pansy's 'gang of girls', for example, wouldn't it be plausible that Daphne herself might just have the same sort of views that Pansy had? There a link on the wiki that apparently backs this up, but it (the Time article) is not working at the moment.

The reason why I find your incarnation of Daphne so unrealistic is because if she was as dim/thick as that, she'd of been torn to shreds by her Slytherin housemates long before the events of that story could of taken place. Aside from that (and the incest omake), I did enjoy reading your oneshot. Have you got any further plans on continuing it?

Well, it's logical to assume that if her sister's a confirmed pureblood, she would be a pureblood also: unless she was a step-sister or a half sister to Astoria, that would confirm her blood status as being pureblood.

Also, (taken from the wiki), Daphne's nephew, Scorpius, was labeled as being a pureblood by Ron Weasley in the Epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, indicating that Daphne and her sister Astoria were born into a pure-blood family.

Also on the ruling of blood status, it's said that if a child's grandparents were magical, that would label them as being a pureblood...so even if Lily Evans/Potter was muggle-born, she was still magical...would that make her grandkids from Ginny/Harry technically pure blooded? If not, would their kids -when they're older- reach the requirements needed to be considered a 'pure blood', even if one great grandparent was muggle-born and one grandparent was a half-blood? (Harry).

If my initial post was implying that, it wasn't my intention. Guess I should of thought it out a bit more if it came across as being like that.

The purpose of this thread wasn't to try and 'tell' people how to write the character, if that is what you think: it was intended to explore how other people see this relatively unknown character, and some conjecture based upon things known about her surroundings, and how that it could of either hinted at or implied things about her canon character. The resulting discussion might of helped other writers somehow via inspiration or by them getting an idea of which they could adapt/use/refine for their own Daphne character, or perhaps something else along that sort of line of thinking. Grasping at straws? Yup, maybe. I'll also freely admit that the mentioned story did fuck with my perception a little bit, but I still find it unrealistic.

Sure, shit like LOL and IMHO and whatnot are fine, because in general, we know what they mean and they're accepted alternatives in a forum setting, but the absolute wrong word is just... grating, I suppose is the best word I can come up with right now.

Look, I get it what you tried to do here. And personally, as someone who intends to change his last name to Greengrass so that he can trick a Daphne into inadvertantly becoming his favorite literary character, I sympathize.

But the end result is that as long as you write her as a real person, she's as 'realistic' a character as any other Daphne. Some theory is better than others, but at the end of the day the most we've got in canon is she's Slytherin and Draco married her sister. Course, Draco could very well have been in disgrace at the time that happened, so maybe he was marrying into a half-blood family that wasn't complete horseshit to save his own skin. Who the fuck knows?
