I have been reading fanfics for years now. I haven't yet seen a fic where Harry slowly descends into darkness and eventually becomes a Dark Lord (By Dark Lord I mean fics in which Harry has his own followers and he aspires to rule the wizarding world). Traitorous could become such a fic if it ever gets completed.

Right now I am looking for any good story in which Harry becomes a Dark Lord.

I have already read the following fics:-

1. Aspirations AU. Harry is shunned not only Ron, but Hermione as well after the Goblet of Fire incident. Ginny befriends Harry and history changes. I liked this fic overall, but the story could have been better. I disliked certain things like:-

Bringing Lily back to life sucks. And honestly Dumbledore is just plain retarded in this fic. And Harry becomes powerful enough to face Voldermort one-on-one in his 5th year just by practicing dark spells with his friends in his 'spare time' (which seems to be very little). Come on, Voldemort has decades of dueling experience and Harry didn't even have any training on dueling.

2. Dakaath: Prince of Darkness Pre!HBP AU, Dark!Harry. A mysterious summons brings Harry to Gringotts, where he learns of his true heritage as a dakaath, a demonic parallel of the veela, and of his destiny as the heir of Lord Grindelwald. HarryCho, HarryFem!OC. No slash. This one could have been better. It had some flaws like:-

But I still liked the fic. But sadly it was abandoned.

This looked very promising until it was abandoned!!

I read this fic a long time ago. There are some flaws like half of Hogwarts population going insanely dark and powerful for no apparent reason. Still I liked it very much.

5. Interview with the Slytherin Childe AU. A press conference after Hogwarts Castle is captured by an unknown attacker turns surreal for Rita Skeeter. She gets more of an exclusive story than she ever imagined. Harry can't be defined as a dark lord in this fic, but he does use dark magic (but he is not evil), has followers and ends up getting control of the ministry. The fight scenes are one of the best I ever read and Harry and Volde still use their wands for magic and don't have any stupid godlike powers. I am looking for something similar with a bit more evil/dark Harry.

8. Curse of Fate Immortal Harry, after watching friends and family die over thousands of years, only wants to join his loved ones in death. I loved this fic until I found it would eventually be SLASH.


There are more fics I have read in this genre but cant remember them right now. I will post them if I remember them.

There are plenty of Dark Harry fics around here but as I mentioned before, I am looking for fics in which Harry becomes a Dark Lord.

I can't find fics matching my criteria in the library or anywhere else.

And I thought the author was going to update any day now. I mean its only been three years since the last update. I never could have guessed it has been abandoned.

 

There was a time when I plowed the fandom in search of the same story type, but the only fics I've ever found for an actual DL!Harry were all slash.

I've long since given up hope.

It's completely vanilla, but it's the only other one I can think of where Harry actually becomes a Dark Lord and amasses followers.

Harry's Madness is one of the worst stories on that list. The guy that wrote it is severely lacking in common sense and basic intelligence. He assumed that Beauxbatons, a French school, was under the jurisdiction of the British ministry of magic, to name one of the most glaring flaws.

Harry isn't a Dark Lord in Resistance of Azkaban either.

There's also the story of "Merik Black", in another story, which is also pretty good.

Then there's "Crack'd Mirror" on Ficwad, which is pretty damn serious and funny.

 

I agree, Harry's Madness has many flaws. But I still liked it. Had it been written by a more rational author it could have been a great fic.

I happened to mention in my post that Harry isn't a Dark Lord in Resistance of Azkaban. But it matches my criteria of Harry being a dark wizard (or at least gray),having followers and ultimately taking over the wizarding world.

 

Well, if you could get over the raunchiness (and several rather disgusting sequences that cloneserpents could have written without the flamboyant description that he used), Crack'd Mirror is indeed a hilarious fic - although I would make the argument that Harry's not as 'evil', so to speak, as one would typically expect from a Dark Lord.

 

I read the story (Embers of Loyalty) today and have somewhat mixed feelings about it. While I liked the part where Harry becomes a Dark Lord, but this story focuses way too much on Hermione for my taste. She doesn't strike me to be the type to become a leader and I don't like her character in general.

The starting was great and I love the way Harry manupulates his way into power. But the story lost its appeal after a few chapters. Anyway it seems to have been abandoned so doesn't matter anyway.

 

Well this fic is sick and twisted. Just the way I like it. Sadly its abandoned too. Why do all the good fics get abandoned anyway?

 

That's a pretty fitting description of the fic as a whole, actually.

I have to agree with Nue. It is a good story. I re-read it once in a while myself.

 

Why do hate your own fic so much? I agree it had some flaws, but its still a great read. Its certainly one of the better fics in 'Harry becomes a Dark Lord' category.

 

I have reached the same conclusion. Most of the fics in this category are slash and the rest have been abandoned.

I recommend The Black Heir and its sequel Vindico Atrum by FirePhoenix8.

I'm not quite sure if these are stories you would be interested in because Harry doesn't receive an education at Hogwarts and because of the slash pairings. However, the stories are both very well written and original; the plot keeps you guessing and the details wow you at every turn. Also, while the relationship between Harry and Voldemort is important, the stories are mainly about Harry's quest to become the Vindico Atrum, the Dark's leader.

 

Harry gives birth to Voldemort's son in that one. Just want to make that clear to potential readers.

 

How is the actually slash in it? A LOT of slash/graphical? I've never read a slash story so...
