I suppose if you mean canon compliance in the most restrictive possible sense then yes. If however you mean canon compliant in the sense that the characters are within the same universe of their canon characterization and the story feels like HP at all, then nope, not so much.

Also I feel like since the epilogue specifically says "All was well" it's hard to say the Golden Age actually complies, since all is most definitely nowhere close to well.

    But that's being rather pedantic.

The part where we didn't reveal any of the plot points perhaps? (The only thing that came even close to a plot point I put in spoilers to drumroll........ not spoil.) All we did was share our opinion of a fic; sort of the point of a thread looking for recommendations.

You recced a fic to OP. Other posters replying to say "y'know that fic isn't that good" isn't ruining it. You have a hard-on for the fic. Good for you. Doesn't mean you're the only one who gets to share an opinion.

Stop crying and go change your diaper.

Ha. Did you read any grown-up jokes where you found that one?

    I don't have a hard-on for TGA, though I *do* think it's well-written, etc.

The point was not to say anything that would give away the fact that it's a mind-fuck and essentially a dismantling of the HP world.

I was trolling the OP and liked to think if no one said,
"OMG don't read that Harry is stupid, Hermione is half-blood from Crouch sr. raping her mom, Ginny and Hermione can only stand to stay Harry and Ron with the help of sedatives, Harry's kids bully people and get the magical world exposed, Snape is brought back with a deus ex, everything turns to shit, Ginny cheats on Harry, Ron cheats on a Fudge-like Hermione, OMFG it's awful!!!1!111"

then maybe my trolling would succeed.

    So yeah.

In literally nearly every thread where post-Hogwarts stories come up, you tout TGA endlessly. Why would anyone thing you were trolling this time? Suddenly you aren't serious when you recommend it? Uh-huh.

And literally none of the shit you just mentioned was brought up. So even if you were trolling, your (terribad) joke was left intact.

Also the fact that you wanted to claim to have wanted to troll an OP using the forum as it was intended is no reason for everyone else to go along with your pointless and pathetic attempt.

    So again, stop your bitching.

I'll try 'splainin' it one more time.

I *do* like that story. I think it's incredibly well done, and is great in spite of the fact that it flies in the face of almost everything we know and like about HP.

Got that? 'Cause I need to go on to the next point, and if you're still glassy-eyed and drooling, trying to comprehend that first part, it doesn't help if I go on without you.

    ...

    ...

    ...

Okay, you with me now? Here's the second part, and I'll try to type slowly so you can keep up.

The OP is a noob, and is new to fanfic, though that isn't overly important.

    ...

The OP asked about next-gen fics. and is of the opinion that NOFP is "beautifully written and very gripping."

Moreover, he states that after re-reading the canon books he
    ...

The OP mentions and then reiterates that he cannot stop reading a fic once he's begun reading it.

    ...

    Still with me?

    ...

I recced a fic that tosses "the way JK Rowling intended [the characters] to be" on its ear, knowing that once the OP - new to fanfic and still keen on canon pairings and the rose-colored glasses of the end of DH and the Epilogue - started reading it, he would not, according to his own words, be able to stop reading it.

    ...

Now. Did any of that make it through your skull? Again, I really enjoyed and still like The Golden Age.

But it's not the kind of thing that this OP was looking for or would want to read right now.

So I recced it, hoping no one would raise a red flag and deter him from taking the bait.

It's called trolling, and I can't believe I have to explain it on DLP.

    ...

    Jesus.

    Fucking.

    Christ.
