Absolutely worth going to. It's one of the most hilarious movies I've watched in quite a while.

The basic premise is that there's this evil villain who wants to cement his place as the most dastardly villain by stealing the Moon. Along the way, he adopts three girls and has to battle a competitor. It sounds dumb, but it really is funny. Steve Carell does a great job as the main character.

I don't really know what else to say...just watch the trailer.

Had to watch it the other day with the kids at the summer recreation program I work at.

Maybe I'm just a killjoy, but I didn't think it was that funny. It had a few moments -- in the beginning, where Gru told the neighbor that he would kill his dog if it kept shitting on his lawn, for instance. And near the end, where he told them he "accidentally maliciously incinerated" their book. Most of the rest of it seemed too juvenile.

"Oh lol his pants fell off."

"Durr I said dart gun not fart gun!"

    *rolls eyes*

Not to mention they stuck half of those lines in the trailer, but that's more of an issue with marketing than with the actual movie.

What the hell were those things? Mutant Corn Puffs? They never even explained it.

Went to see this as a family unit last weekend, and as much as my kids seemed to enjoy it, they weren't going on and on about it the way they do after a movie they absolutely *love*, such as Kung Fu Panda, Toy Story, The Incredibles, etc. I think I laughed more than the wife or kids, possibly due in part to Steve Carrell's voice-over for Gru, and the douche-bag villain Vector.

I don't recall a Daffy Duck reference right this instant, but the
    Godfather shout-out
was quite well-done in my book. And as far as the minions go, I imagined them as mutated cheese puffs, personally, what with some having two eyes and others just having the one.

For me, it was definitely worth seeing, but unless the kids ask for it, I doubt we'll be buying the DVD.

Oh, and I thought the last scene with
Gru reading his home-made bed-time story to the girls was very touching and appropriate to his growth as a person.
