He's not on Inferno. That's pretty much the only explanation needed, lol.

Energy Armor Force Armor? While energy armor is active, hits that would deal more than 35% of your HP are reduced to 35% of your HP. That's still 1/3rd but if it reduces the damage before armor then with the 60% armor from energy armor it might be accurate.

Not with 40k hp - and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that. Can't say for certain because I've only used Force Armor vs. Belial.
Edit.: I think Evan is talking about Diamond Skin + Force armor.

You really don't know the force energy armor, low vitality, diamond skin build?

EDIT: Let me clarify. You intentionally keep your Vit as low as possible so your max HP pool doesn't exceed 6k.

Force Armor now makes all attacks roughly 2k at max value before armor lowers it more.

Prism Diamond Skin has 21k HP. It will take 10+ attacks to shatter that shield.

Stack health regeneration, get the Templar with all heals, get Galvanized Shield passive. Use Mirror Image, Teleport Decoy, and Illusionist passive to help draw off aggro.

You now shrug off all blows as long as you aren't receiving 3+ shots of focused attacks at once with both skin + MI + Teleport down, have a basically zero CD Teleport and MI as long as you ever get hit by anything, and your Diamond shield is virtually impregnable.

For attacks, take Hydra and Blizzard so you can kite spam all day.

It's an interesting exploit of ability mechanics that I can't wait for them to negate. Until then, enjoy your invulnerability.

I can tell you're one of those WoW players who thinks PVE builds should be nerfed so everyone suffers.

You think this didn't exist in beta or that similarly strong builds didn't exist in D2?

EDIT: Hell, Demon Hunters have their 12s invulnerability to every damage trick. WDs have infinite mana in practically all the viable inferno builds.

The only classes that start getting hard-countered in Inferno are Monk and Barb, and that's only because no one has farmed the gear they need to do Inferno yet.

When a mage can solo Rakanoth and Izual in 4 man inferno in shit gear, yeah, that's fucked up.

It's called "not working as intended."

Scripted bosses. Big damn deal. Literally the easiest fights in the game.

You realize not a single good player gives a damn about the scripted fights aside from possibly Belial and people barely starting normal?

Hell, there's a reason the devs expected people to beat Inferno inside one week of release.

The build spits in the face of the logical character progression of the game. It exploits the mechanics of a strait-forward passive ability to make the wizard have the highest survivability of any class.

    Come on.

Like I said, enjoy your crutch while it lasts.

Doesn't seem that powerful. 20kHP shield only takes 10 hits and only lasts 6 seconds with less than 50% uptime, even if you run 15% cdr as one of your passives.

Between that, teleport with wormhole, and some kite ability (blizz or frost ray) you could be formidable vs a lot of things.

It won't do anything vs elites that are anti kite (fast teleport or molten/plague/arcane that make you run out of room) though, will it?

I wouldn't use it, seems too cheesy to me. I'm still using shoot and scoot+ vault to stay alive in hell.

Eh, seems a bit cheese, but I'd use it if I was in a really tough spot that I couldn't seem to get past, like a horde inferno's fast molten jailer Zombie Spewing 'Mothers' in act one.

Kind of pissed Blizzard took down the servers for eight hours at 6pm in Australia. Looks like I won't be able to play at all tonight. I'm hardly the first to say it, but damn I hate this always online shit.

I'm playing this game almost entirely single player, but I still have to deal with massive amounts of lag and eight hour down times during the only time I can play? That's extremely stupid.

Anyway, I'm mostly enjoying the game so far. It's my first Diablo game so I'm a fair bit confused with some of the lore (most of it is fairly simplistic though thankfully) and I think I'm probably pretty terrible as I don't often play this sort of game, but I'm having fun. Currently midway through Act IV on normal mode.

Any other wizards feel like giving me some general tips about how to best play the class? I feel like I shouldn't be dying anywhere near this much on the lowest difficulty.

Eh, I didn't really feel like looking through a 22 page thread to see if there was any discussion about wizards so I just posted. I see now that there is actually some discussion recently, but I'm looking more for some very basic tips. Like I said, I'm a pretty huge noob at Diablo.

The pointy end of the... laser... goes into the enemy. Also, gimmick builds aside, Vitality is your friend.
