Bah, I have to wait another 3 weeks before I get home and can get the game (my laptop is shit and my gaming computer is on another continent at the moment). Been waiting years though so I figure a few more weeks is no trouble.

So the general consensus is "awesome game"?

It's mostly just a hack and slash with a lot of strategy incorporated. Strategy as in what runes you want to use. I really like how easily you can switch around "specs."

However, I think there are things they could've done better with the bosses. Most elite or boss encounters consist of running around to avoid shit and hitting the mob whenever you can (as a ranged class at least). I think they could've incorporated more mechanics into those fights to make them unique. For example, many bosses in WoW have mechanics that make the each fight very unique and interesting. Diablo just seems very generic in that respect.

I also see how the achievement fad is taking place in almost every game now. I think that Blizzard should bring over the titles concept from WoW to Diablo though. How would you like to show off that you're a badass not only to yourself, but to the oher people in your party as well?

Sounds like they kept the spirit of Diablo and Diablo 2 in the mechanics then. having played WoW and the previous Diablo games, the lack of unique mechanics doesn't really bother me seeing as they're two very different styles of game.

I used to like how easy it was to switch specs, but it's frustrating being limited to 6 skills because at 60 if you switch you lose your nephalem valor buff which is your best bet for getting loot.

Well, then really, it's just a system that allows you to more easily find a setup that works for you, without punishing you for changing(except for in the field with the Valor active, of course). Aside from the Valor thing, we knew that going in though.

I hit act 2 in Inferno last night, but I can't seem to actually progress with my current gear past Alcarnus to fight Magda. I'm playing a wizard, and currently running venom hydra/blizzard.

Honestly, trying to beat act 2 solo is becoming really annoying though. Can't get past an elite mob without at least 2 deaths and 15+ minutes of kiting around.

I'm thinking of getting my demon hunter to Inferno to farm. She's in Act 1 Nightmare, so if anyone wants to party up for NM let me know. Going through it alone the sixth time in two days is somewhat tedious...

    Yes, I'm missing an L. I know.

Eh that's how Act 2 works for me on my DH. A whole lot of kiting and zoning or dying. And I have a 950dps xbow now, but act 2 in general is just a bitch.

Fuck Inferno. My monk is getting dominated, and there's so little I feel like I can do. I can either play like a ranged DPS class (which means I should just go and reroll something that can kite) or act as a displacement whore in a 4man doing nothing but dying endlessly.

I see loads of streams of wizards and DH soloing, but every stream or video of Monk is either pre-patch nerf or in act 1 pretending 'farming' act bosses with no Neph stacks is farming at all.

Monk feels like Diablo's version of WoW's Shaman, to me. It's a class that can play every role decently, but falls drastically behind when compared to the others.

It's more of the fact that melees get ass raped by all the ridiculous affixes on champions while ranged have at least a chance to escape.

That's true, but the damage difference is so enormous it can't even be compared to the insignificant jump between Nightmare and Hell difficulties. Literally, if something pops up a desecration below my feet, which I was able to tank in Hell (and tank 4 of pre-nerf), I melt like I-can't-believe-it's-not-butter.

I have this small hope it's simply gear dependent. I swear, it's a business method. Make Inferno so hard (and nerf the builds that CAN get through it) it's impossible to do without the gear you can only get if you've already beaten inferno... Thus, most people are forced to pay real money for the items to be able to do the act and farm their own. CONSPIRACY

It's more like make Inferno so hard that only the hardest of hardcores can get through it, hotfix the overpowered/broken skills they use to do so, then tweak the difficulty down so that the rest of the world can manage it.

It's the same balancing method they used for WoW raids.

Artificial difficulty is a beautiful thing. Sort of like in Borderlands how bosses have obscene amounts of HP. 16 headshots with a sniper rifle, each one doing 5k damage, brings him down to about 1/3 HP. That's just fucking ridiculous.

On the topic of Diablo 3, a buddy of mine gave me a code for his guest pass since I'm cheap and don't feel like dropping $60 on a game that is best played with other people, and I've got to say, playing by yourself is boring and tedious. Nevermind the fact that I was instagibbing enemies as a level one DH, but that's probably more due to the difficulty than anything else.

Act 1 Normal is by far the most boring part of the game. Letting people only play that as a guest pass was probably a huge mistake.

So I tried to log on to play this morning and the game has completely vanished from my Battle.net account :/. This is very irritating.

Keeping an up to date weapon is critical as a DH. I went from a 20 dps bow to a 40 dps bow, and I started one shotting monsters with my hungering arrow. Replacing gear is still a pain in the ass though.

I've got like 3 rows of low level yellows for low to mid level characters if anyone wants them, message me in game or here if you'd like to arrange a time. They're not impressive enough to put on the AH even for 1k but they're better than running around with an item with just a primary stat.

Just finally had the time to get this game, and I have to say that redoing the areas that you have already done in the beta is incredibly boring. :/ Glad it apparently gets better after you finish act I at least.

I have about a dozen 60 dps 1h xbows if anyone is leveling their demon hunters. If you can afford to drop 10k to help me make back the 10k I spent on them thinking I could flip them (Ha!) that'd be great, but if not I don't mind handing em out for free.

I also have a lot of entry level inferno gear for sale, churchy#1468 to get more info on some of them. Most of them are listed here however: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5150112544?page=1

Picked up a 1110 DPS xbow for 1 mil and after the trade completed, the guy asks for it back because someone offered him 1.7. Needless to say I immediately said nope and left the game.

More on items, I sold a level 29 amulet for 350k because it was a perfectly rolled masterpiece. 10% MF, 23% crit damage, 2% crit, 13% IAS, 34 dex 23 vit and an open socket. Meanwhile I can't give away inferno loot.

Trying to powerlevel my monk friend's witch doctor (he wants to be useful he says), but after we downed diablo in normal and he watched the cinematic, he can't go into nightmare mode. We went back and killed butcher/belial/azmodan but he still can't go into nightmare.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong here?

Is he trying to join public games? Those have level limiters.
