with all of his trials its likely that dumbles set everything up, he wanted things to happen in just such a way (although CoS and PoA may have been wild cards). the love potion idea could be true but look at it from another prespective, what if dumbles gave harry the potion to attract him to ginny so he could have even great control over him, and that animal feeling he got could be the potion trying to control him but like with the imperio curse he can suppress it although bearly.

then of course the potion would most likely over lay the smells for his true love and only some un identifyable smell would get through the potions effects.

I hate book six... IMO, it's the worst after book CoS. I hated it when harry was head over f*cking heels infatuated with her... Even if jkr really wanted harry and ginny to get together(which i would still hate), she could have written it out instead of the "Oh i'm in love w/ you" "I love you too" crap i read.

And yes, Ginny slipped a love-potion in Harry's pumpkin-juice with Hermione's help. Big whoop, it's wouldn't be OOC for her to do it, and frankly I'm not surprised.

 

Generally, plot-wise, HBP was a disaster. Starting with H/G (no one goes from barely knowing someone to having a monster in their chest for them), but also hella other stuff too. What happened to Neville and Luna? If Hermione becomes Ron and Harry's best friend because of the troll incident, facing down 12 Death Eaters for a few hours should turn the DoM group into a orgy party group. Or maybe not even that far, but they should become at least good friends that show up more than twice. In that vein, Luna living so close to Ron (read GoF closely) should have been somehow significant (I was thinking Harry/Luna/Ron/Hermione love quadrangle myself). The issue of Sirius' death should have been bigger, not all-consuming like some fics, but in HBP its like Harry forgets about Sirius after the end of summer. There should have been some kind of advanced training for Harry from someone, and it shouldn't even really matter what. It could've been anything from dueling training, how to harness the power of love to combat Voldemort (stupid, but Dumbledore can't just say "Harry you will destroy Voldemort with love" and then just leave it at that), or even a course in "how to destroy a Horcrux" if she had to go with that idiotic idea (notice how the Trio is FUCKED for Book 7 since they have no idea what to do with the Horcruxes when they find them). Aggh I could go on for days, but I think you get the idea.

And on another note... it's a little sad on how much sense that actually makes, I can actually see Ginny slipping him the love potion in canon. As for the training that goes to prove one thing...

Back sometime ago, she stated that she might just kill Harry off. What better way than to tell him that "the power of love" is the only way that he can defeat voldemort?

He's not Sailor Moon. He doesn't get in a damn sailor scout and use moon prisim makeup to kill evil, and that's the only situation where "the power of f-in' love" will work.

Unless by "Love" he meant get Voldemort to join him in a wild orgy in Azkaban when he drops the soap and then get's anally raped by Zombie Dumbedore, Ginny, and Vernon Dursley. But she wouldn't go THAT far...

And then there's also the posibility that she's using all of this crappy stuff as a build up to him killing voldemort (cause EVERYONE expects him to die in book 7) and becoming the next dark lord himself just to piss everyone off.

As for Luna and Nelville; she forgot about them. Or MAYBE! JUST MAYBE... they're secretly death eaters whom were planted to support harry and she ran out of ideas or something... who knows.

He has had no training, he can't do any good spells, and he hasn't even got laid!

Either he's gonna die, or JKR is gonna screw us all over.

I could definately see a love potion as the cause of Harry's sudden interest in Ginny. I don't see how someone can suddenly have such intense feelings for someone that quickly. (Although I will admit that I am no expert when it comes to relationships)
Never noticed the part with Ginny smelling the same as the love potion but that was probable because I've tried to remove everthing HBP from my mind. Sadly, it doesn't appear to be working.

 

I like the Fleur theory, but you all forgot something Harry helped in the Weasleys garden so it could very well be a smell from there.

Also has the possible Idea accured to you as to what exactly goes into a love potion? Ginny could very well have found/bought an important ingredent(the one that forces artifical love) from Nockturn Ally (sp?) and used it in its raw forn on herself. Sprinkle a little pollen here and WHAM! Instent love. and the smell from the potion is the hightened version the flower normaly releases and can only be noticed after one has been in contact with the potion.

 

the only thing we know that is used in Love Potions is Frozen Ashwinder Eggs, which anyone can get without spending a dime, all they need to do is leave a fire unattended. But they don't sound like something that would have a distinct scent.

I don't know about you but I'm hoping it doesn't end that way. Harry's too innocent to be a love slave to... erm... Exactly WHAT IS Ginny anyway? think theer's someone brave enough to dissect her?

 

I don't even have a copy of HBP. I just borrowed the book from my friend for a day and finished reading it during that time.... It sucked.

As to Ginny... Harry/Ginny is often referred to as beastiality... I dunno what kind of beast though. :twisted: And goddes, I don't doubt that you can find somebody here who is willing to dissect her... Though not with the usual lab tools. They'll probably use their kitchen utensils. It's gonna be mighty interesting and I'm getting a front row seat!
