I'm not going to pretend to even understand that one. I have, once again, been outdone by the intricacies of humour. Damn you humour.

Yeah, there's a story with an armless Order member that uses his meat wand as a wand, but he has to be properly motivated first, usually thanks to Tonks flashing him. I don't remember the name of it, but I'm pretty sure its a DLP story.

Haha, and he got taken down by Bellatrix when she 'flashed' him, and his 'wand' died: "Now, despite what some people may think, being in Azkaban for 16 years doesn't exactly keep the human body young and beautiful..."

I'm getting a strong mknote vibe off this one.

OT: The wand chooses the wizard, not certain character traits. Sure, people change, they grow, etc. But they're still the same person. Certain Eastern philosophies notwithstanding.

The Holly wand chose Harry. Not 11-year-old Harry, but Harry.

Plus, JKR has said wands are "semi-sentient". Enough that it makes sense to talk of them choosing people and having loyalty. What's to say that as a person changes, the character of their wand doesn't change with them?

It would be pretty embarrassing to be sporting the exact same wood as an adult that you were at age eleven.

    Sooo highbrow.

    Eight inches, quite whippy.

Go on then, give it a wave.

I love how this has changed from magical wands (don't say it, I know you want to) to the other, more amusing meaning of 'wand'.

I grew quite bored of Harry having the same fucking wand, too, in all honesty. Only problem with most authors writing Harry getting a different wand is one of those stupid "custom wands" that are finished within a few minutes, instead of say, a couple of weeks. Those annoy the shit out of me, too.

The thing is though, Harry having a different wand changes absolutely nothing. It'd be like giving him a mole on his chin. Unless it's the Elder Wand or a wand containing one of Voldemorts' horcruxes it does absolutely bugger-all.

    So what's the point?

You know what else is boring? Black hair. Why does Harry always have messy black hair ? And then, when authors do step up and change his hair color, they don't account for his roots showing (his hair grows really fast, remember?), or those times when dying it red could accidentally result in pink hair.

It's unrealistic, and annoys the shit out of me.

To be honest, FashionGod!Harry irritates me the most. From what we hear of Harry in canon, he wouldn't know fashion if it rushed up to him and shoved a dildo down his throat (Yule Ball in particular). But in a lot of stories, they have him strutting around (exactly...) in Miu-Miu suits with D&G watches... the list goes on. Why bother telling me exactly what Harry's wearing? I don't give a fuck.

I think most of the male population would agree with you on that.

While "fashion god Harry" is annoying, the stupid male stereotype of the guy scared of shopping, having no idea about clothes etc. is equally annoying. Seriously, who is scared of going shopping? And it doesn't take a fashion genius to dress decently.

True, but the authors in question always seem to make Harry go too far with the clothing, as if that's supposed to be the focal point of the story. Also, it's quite annoying when Harry goes and changes wizard money into a ridiculous sum to spend on completely useless garbage in the Muggle world.

Newsflash: This is not the Pet Peeves thread. I should've known you faggots would go directly from "wands" to clothes...
