On the topic of Harrys grandmother, for some strange reason I'm getting a vibe it's Titania. Eb mentioned something about having bad deals in the past, and Butcher hinted in his Q&As that there is a reason Harry hasnt been face to face with big Tit yet. Could also be a reason why Maggie was so entrenched with the fairies.

Not likely, but it is possible.

 

Once again, Jim has stated that Harry's Grandmother was normal, and is now dead.

 

Did he specify which grandmother?

But Harry's dad is normal, as far as we know, and even if he was a Changeling that became human and Titania's son, why would Big T care about avoiding Harry. As far as I know, Harry's never seen either of his Grandmothers, and stated repeatedly that he had no family, so it's not like he'd recognize her.

 

^Agree. I saw that the Dresden series was recommended here, so I started it about a month ago. I literally just finished 'Changes,' and it was like running full tilt into a brick wall.

Edit: Thinking on it more, the entire book seemed like a series of walls that the reader was plowed through. First the initial wtf factor of Harry being a daddy, then the systematic death of most everything that's remained a constant over the series. Perhaps the effect was magnified for me because I read the books back-to-back, but there was always a short paragraph devoted to describing the history of the Blue Beetle, the leather duster, etc. To have them one-by-one perish was jarring. And all the while, I'm expecting the book to finish nice and neat, with Harry accepting the death of old and the birth of new, like with a new apt, office, car. But instead, the end delivered the biggest sucker punch of them all.



And though I know it's not "The End" and Dresden will live to fight another day (once he gets over his case of 'dead'), I think I would have preferred to have him go out in a blaze of glory, "doing the right thing."

 

Still very possible, and somewhat likely is my bet.

The thing that I'm most anxious about in the next book isn't how Dresden returns to the living, because thats a guarantee, but how long is he dead for and how long the time skip is going to be. We know the book starts 45 minutes after he was shot, but I'm hoping he stays dead for a decent period, gives time for the world to change around him and renew the readers interest. If, as changes suggests, it's a big change it might be a decade or two.

Dresden might be revived only to be forced to look after his daughter who has started to hit puberty, at which point he will wish he remained dead.

 

The shortstory with Murphy is the one that takes 45 minutes after Dresden is shot. The next book should have approx. same timeskip as usual, unless I misunderstood the Q&A vid. Not sure if you know this alread, but it seemed unclear from your post.

He's an AK wielding black Russian ex-denarian knight of the cross and all sorts of badass. Who wouldn't love that. I'd love to see a short story about him.

 

I had a vision of Titania being his grandmother too. Weird.

But If Eb's love was suppose to be normal, that kind of makes me wonder.

What if Eb is Titania's son instead?

Though the actual reason I think Titania hasn't met him. She looks like his mother.

Which could have all sorts of freaky reasons.

 

Maybe she's his child that traveled back from the past, and they have such a bond that he is capable of realizing it is her.

Basically, we don't really know enough about the Fae to be able to accurately place what is going on. Only make half hearted speculation.
