If you can write a seven-year fic - that's coherent, not a canon rehash, and doesn't suck balls - in seven weeks, you'll have my vote.

 

Oh, one of my favorite genre's. Count me in as a judge; I'd love to see everybody's interpretation of Harry in a different House.

Hmm, I'm having ideas for this one. I may fold the ideas I had for the continuation of 'Sole Survivor' into a different story for this contest. We'll see how the planning stage goes.

 

A mere 300 words written so far, but I'm already excited. Looking forward to seeing the other entries in October, and good luck to everyone participating.

I doubt I'll have the time to even judge, but I'm really interested in reading the submissions for this genre. Hope there's some good ideas. Personally, I've always wanted to read a good Beauxbatons!Harry.

I'm writing something for this contest as well, although there's probably a 1 in 2 chance I'll not end up posting it.

 

Does the alternate school/house have to be from canon verse? For example, can we create an unknown assassin school in canada and have Harry go there?

 

I would assume that it's not limited to Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, so yeah. But Canada? Fuck that shit, man.

Heh. It doesn't have to be 'fuck that shit, man'. Done well, a secret Canadian school for top-level wizardry could be an excellent story.

Some of the most amazing vistas, mountain ranges and picturesque lakes in the world can be found in Canada. Magically-inclined folk training and learning in that environment, against unknown magical beasts and threats would make for a fine tale.

In fact, I may try my hand at this. Best part of six weeks to write it? Eh... what else could make this cool?

Now there's an idea - a fic written by DLP, with elements inspried, perhaps even voted on, by the community. A by-the-numbers story, with sections written by members, to be included in the final draft.

The potential could either save or destroy the fandom.

 

Started writing something for this, as I have an idea or two. Got nowhere, started writing Sixth Year instead. Eh. I consider it a win.

That said, looking forward to this contest more than any so far. Lots of great potential, and with seven weeks to work with, this ought to be good.

Just so I know whether to discard one idea entirely, I'm guessing having Harry at a different school in another fandom wouldn't be suitable for this contest?

 

I've had an AU Beauxbatons fic floating around in my head for... years, now, just no inspiration to put pen to paper. It may be slightly too ambitious for this contest, but... entering the chapter(s) I finish should work, methinks. Consider me a tentative contestant.
