Denarian Renegade and Wasteland of Time both in the Best Action/Adventure selection. They're trying to split up the DLP vote.

"The Dragonmasters" by Naia for Best Work in Progress?

Does one update every 3-4 years really count as "progress"?

The category Best femSlash has only one nominee, let's guess who will win :/

And I agree about the "random nominations"
nearly all master pieces I've read are missing.

Really? I'm almost sure that I've seen other stories boasting of this award...

Perhaps there are multiple sites using the same name for the award?

I'm only going on this so it might be wrong.
    • Torina this is the first year of the awards
    • Torina because its' rather new : )
    • Guest this is so cool, I have no idea why I haven't heard of this site before!
I was looking at the DLP trolling of the site and found that.

    Also,
    • Shezza For the record, I'm not a girl. That said, half of you won't believe me and the other half will argue that I am, so, screw off [IMG]

Aside from the DLP authors I didn't recognize crap there, that's fail. Not even a mention of Breathe of Life in the AU section?

    Whatever, did my bit.

As a veteran of many fandoms, I can safely say that most fandoms have unified awards that tend to be a pretty big deal in said fandom. HP doesn't so much. I'm not saying that HP fic doesn't have awards, what I'm saying is that they don't have fandom-wide fanfiction awards. I've seen a few, but they're usually pretty compartmentalied, and not whole-fandom.

I mean, SIYE has it's own awards, and other sites host their own, but it's just for one group of people, not a huge contest with varying categories...

    I cast "Yzal Authorius"

You have got to be fucking kidding me...

Under Best General: Recnac Transfaerso - by Celebony - In a rash act of self sacrifice, Harry takes on cancer to <SNIP>

Okay, not only does this story apparently center around the results of a spell with a shitty spelled-backwards incantation (recnac = cancer, in case you are too sleepy to have noticed yet) with some bad faux latin on the side, but that same shitty incantation is also the fucking title of the fic.

What, you couldn't have looked up the Latin words for 'disease' (cancer is hard to miss, since adding an 'is' makes it Latin) and 'transfer' or something, at the very least?

For all the reasons this should fail to nab an award, this is the one that should be noticed first, thus barring the selective reader from discovering any of the other ones.

    Warlocke, he LIVES!

Bad Latin nonwithstanding, the only nominaters seem to be fangirls or DLPers.

I skimmed this story a long time ago when I followed a link from someone promoting it as an elegant piece of parody.
If I recall, Harry takes on cancer, which becomes The Power The Dark Lord Knows Not. No, really. It's rather like the melanin-superhero black-pride comics--in this case, cancer somehow boosts his magic and he uses it to win. Oh, and Harry befriends the fat and ugly authorial self-plant chick. He spends half the story in the hospital, the other half defeating Dumbledore in training duels. In the end he wins, but dies, then there's this big A/N saying something along the lines of, "OMFG he's not really dead! There's more chapters, please, readers, don't hate me!!!!" And then he comes back from the dead. Lots of sappy hugs and shit. The end.

I congratulated the author on her having penned such an outstanding piece of parody and got a nastygram back. That was first real appreciation of the beauty that is accidental parody, where the joke really is on the author.

    (Got that, SerpantSannin/MrJoe/Oblong? I know you're lurking... :p)

Lol, I have to go find and read your review now.

Wait... It has like 3000 reviews. Any chance you remember which chapter you gave it for?

This is totally award worthy, and anyone who says otherwise is obviously a homophobe. How can anyone with '69' in their name not be a good author? And the summary is the most romantic thing I've ever heard of. I'm still waiting for my evil, furr- I mean werewolf boy toy to come along.

Again by the same author, and again the perfect piece of fiction for its category. How could this not win Best WIP. This should totally have been included, and not that piece of shit 'Denerian Lord'. I heard the author is a woman! Eeeew.

A shoe-in for 'Most Original'. I've never seen a story featuring abusive Dursleys, Father!Snape or Super!Harry. This deserves its place, not some unoriginal thing where Harry picks up the coin of a fallen Angel.

Seriously, how can you be original if your character isn't wearing tight leather?
