    You could get authors to nominate their own stories and characters for awards, and put a limit on how many they can nominate. Although it does limit the nomination of stories by non-DLP writers and slightly skew the accuracy of the awards, but it was just a thought.

    or

    To stop the problems from last year, anyone on the forum can be free to nominate and then an elected judicial panel gets together and deliberates over the the final results.
