1. Hey Guest, welcome back to DLP

As you can see, we've changed our look. We've migrated from vBulletin to the Xenforo forum system. There may be issues or missing functionality, if you find anything or have feedback, please check out the new Xenforo Migration Feedback forum.

Our dark ("Dark Lord Potter") theme is under heavy development. We also have a light ("Light Lord Potter") theme for those happier with a light background and darker text.

I mean, I suppose some people would be fine with Harry with blue eyes. Or red hair. Or a scar in the shape or the London underground. Or contact lenses that would toetz psyche-out Moldyshortz.

If Raven desires to assist other members in their quest to have a less fulfilling aesthetic experience, that's fine.

Being able to see author over the last poster in a thread.

What advantage does that offer as opposed to the one under the title?

Should have clarified. I meant when just watching WBA or any thread at the main page.

Presumably, if you're following a thread in the WbA you already know who the author is.

Embedded tweets would be convenient for the politics forum.

As a person still using a 4in display (iphone 5s), life is pain when browsing dlp. Navigation across forums etc isn't great, but at least most of that data is necessary, IMO. But there's no need for thread view containing everything that a desktop site does. Text input area is bigger than screen width, formatting keys are incredible pain to use etc. There's also the fact that user avatar etc is visible on the left, which takes 20-25% of the screen for no real reason.

At the very least I'd like to move the entire left side above the actual post. Since it's relatively easy to modify viewports, it could be done only for small screens without bothering those that carry 5.4in monstrosities and want to see the avatars and the like (although I can't see the need for it at all on mobile). Text input could also use some changes, IMO. The text is tiny on the display, and things like setting the width of display to 100% of the screen would easily allow to add an icon to increase/decrease font size for mobile, which could be located at the top of the page or wherever. Since the post would take up the entire screen anyway, you could read in either portrait or landscape (portrait isn't a great option unless you want to go blind in a few years, and even landscape has small font)

Here's some examples of what I'd like to see changed (+ the bigger/smaller font changer).

Aside from that, maybe threaten some of the decent writers to post more often to WBA? Assholes seem to be more concerned with their own life and careers and other irrelevant bullshit instead of providing me free entertainment, which is just silly if you think about it.

That probably isn't in the cards, sorry. Discourse I don't actually like. I've never given Flarum a try, but I've never had a great experience with the newer "2.0" forums.

I mean, there's always vB4 or 5 but even then there'd be lots of fixes and adjustments to be made for it to look/work like DLP currently does.

I once put forward the idea of Xenforo for DLP; it's the same thing that SV uses, but I think Raven turned it down because too much work. Well, I think unless someone's up to actually doing the work, it's not gonna happen. And it requires a lot of work.

I'd put forward the request of updating the DLP IRC server software. Unreal 3.2.10.x is EOL now, maybe you might want to migrate the server to 4.x or something?

Could a post not have it's own tags? An author in his WBA thread could post a new part of their story and mark that post as 'New Content', thereby adding towards the wordcount of the current story. This would differentiate the 'content' and 'discussion' posts in the thread.

This can already be done with threadmarks. If they're not being lazy that is.

His avatar looks so familiar and I get a severe pain that shoots through my head when I try to think of what it is.

If you use adblock plus you can set it to block the image.

As for improvements well out of the forums I visit I like this one the best. The 'features' other forums have largely don't matter or are actively annoying.
