Hmm, yes, that point has been made already hasn't it? Gah. Notetoself: Skim less.

    (Oh, thank you.)

So, when is the next theme usually released?

If we're going by genre, Tragedy can be an option too.

Normally I'd agree, but Tragedy is such a shitty theme. It'd be filled with angst. Politics would be a better theme, really, even though Sesc did a decent job in the January gen contest.

I think a large part of DLP's repulsion to angst comes from most fanfiction angst being this.

I wouldn't mind reading well written angst from a DLP author.

Like Celestin said, you probably don't want to have categories that are too specific. But I do think you'd get reasonable interest if you have one contest for all uncommon protagonists, another for all uncommon pairings, etc.

I especially like the one for uncommon protagonists, because I think it would help improve the flexibility of people's writing.

For the sake of format, very unlikely.

I've been assuming the whole time that Crossover was going to be a monthly topic - why shouldn't it be? We have plenty in the library. I've been planning one this whole time, too...

Fuck, if Crossover become a topic I'll have three stories running around in my head (and on paper). I'm not sure whether that's really desirable for my sanity...

Speaking of crossovers, I want to put elements of a story into an HP setting, without the characters or objects or powers or whatever. Does that still counts as a crossover?

E.g. Learning to Breathe, basically Harry Potter as Sousuke from Full Metal Panic.

If that's a 'yes', then I'll have 3 ideas (and some scraps) to match your 3...

Uh, any chance the stories could go up? It is the 7th and all...

It'd be nice if we had a little more time to write, honestly. Perhaps announce the month's category on the first, instead of after the judging for previous month is complete? An extra weeks' time to write might generate more entries, especially in categories that aren't as easy to do good one-shots in.

But regardless, this is an excellent idea that has injected fresh life into the fandom a bit.

    Whose midnight?

    ;)

Also, if there is a crossover theme then I have an excellent idea. Which I wont be able to post due to either computer troubles or just not being finished in time. Yeah.:facepalm

March was crossover month, so it's quite likely it will be a long time before it comes around again.

March was Alternates, not crossovers. Nah, I suspect this month's topic will probably be romance.
