I love Snape. His love for Lily was of such paramount importance, that he was ready to do anything, even play double game (his entire life) in order to save Lily's son. Whenever he sees Harry, he is reminded of James, and the jealousy steams up within him. But inspite of the fact, that Harry is James's son, the only thing, which Snape is concerned is that Lily's son should not meet the same fate as Lily. So his entire life is spent pretending that he is on the other side. He lives his entire life acting. And the chapter in the last book was so touching. He was so angry at Dumbledore that he had grown Harry like a slaughter pig just to be slaughtered at the right moment. He had loved Harry all his life, just as he had loved Lily. He is an epitome of true love and sacrifice.
