That trailer is fucking terrible. This might just be the first season of Doctor Who that I don't give a shot.

I uh.. don't like the character she portrays in the trailer. She irritates me.

I don't mind much the contemporary young woman. It fits with the persona of the doctor, even more this one than the others. However I agree with you, the trailer was just atrocious.

Same. She's just fucking annoying and that trailer is barely 3 minutes (off the top of my head) long. I'm wondering how I'll endure her for a full episode. She kinds of remind me of Donna, which I was never much of a fan of until her departure (that was a sick move).

I was so hoping Moffat would switch things up in his final season and go with a companion not from contemporary Earth. Le sigh.

Really don't care about this show any more. Sad, because I used to enjoy it a lot.

Not taking to her from that clip, but some are speculating she may be from the 80s, from how she's dressed and the whole 'back to the future' comment. Which would at least add an interesting dimension considering how many adventures happen in the present.

I'm going to second the Donna similarity, whom i was able to stand only because i was binge watching those seasons i think. Not looking forward to 1+ season with Pearl so far. Maybe she'll be different in the actual show, hopefully.
Now that i think about it, my companion bar is pretty high. Since 2005 the ones i liked most were Amy, Clara, Rose(closer to the end), Martha(whose name i couldnt remember at all just now) aaand that's it. Rory was pretty good towards the end too. And Harkness beats out all of them ofcourse.

So, I'm looking for a short episode where the Doctor erases all mentions of himself from some database somehow using the trick that the Silence use. This was referenced by River Song in Angels take Manhattan. There was also a hologram of the Doctor. That is literally all I remember. Except that I can't find it anywhere.

I'm pretty sure that I actually saw it at one point and did not just dream it up, so help, please?

Gotta be honest, that doesn't ring any bells at all. There's 'Asylum of the Daleks', where Oswin removes all trace of him from the Daleks' databanks. Then in 'Dinosaurs on a Spaceship' we see that Solomon's database can't identify him - I think I vaguely recall it projecting a hologram of him as it scanned him. Other than that...nothing.

Edit The DarIm: Huh. Shows how much I know. I present 'The Infoarium', which seems to be a DVD extra giving some very pertinent information to the series it accompanied, and should probably have been included in an actual broadcast episode. I'd never even heard of it before.

Did that happen when the doctor used the Teselecta (the miniaturizing robot) to fake his own death?

Yep. There were various mentions of him doing it behind the scenes during series 7, but that's the only bit I've ever seen which specified *how* he was doing it, as far as I know.

Shinysavage: Yes! Thank you! That had been driving me crazy! I thought it took place after The Dalek Asylum. But you say it was at the end of season 6?

He made the decision to 'step back into the shadows...I got too noisy' in the last episode of series 6. That takes place at some point between then and Angels of Manhatten, I assume. I found it by looking at the Wikipedia page for series 7.

Christmas special has aired. It's basically everything I expected of a superhero story - very enjoyable if you don't think about it too much. :)

There was also a season 10 trailer afterwards which looked interesting. Haven't seen anyone analyze it yet, but I've been hearing rumors of a Spring run next year...

That was really good fun - the actual 'threat' was pretty flimsy, but when the focus was on the Ghost and Lois...Lucy, it was a real treat. Had me genuinely laughing out loud at times, and Matt Lucas was an unexpected high point. Not a classic by any stretch, but I'd say it's comfortably in near the top of the Christmas episodes.

Trailer for series 10. Looks pretty fun - not much to speculate on at this stage, but plenty of spectacle.

Is it just me or Doctor Who lost some of its more cinematic feeling that it managed to get in recent years?

Other than that, it was a nice episode. It made fun of superhero tropes, but didn't ridicule them. Additionally, I liked that in the end the Ghost retired, but didn't lost his powers. Even if he doesn't return, it's a nice change from usual endings where the hero becomes normal at the end of their journey.

Given the obvious sequel bait at the end, the hero keeping his powers seems par for the course. ;)

Him stopping the bomb with a hand at the end was pretty stupid... isn't that the same as colliding with the ground e.g enough to make the bomb explode? Like it still has all that kinetic energy, at the very least the doctor and his buddy should of been pulverized by the shock of the sudden stop.

But then again 'magical wish gem gives him whatever he wants' e.g not for it to explode.
