Specifically on the first chapter of your story? Like, I decided to make the story right after OotP, where the connection between Voldy and Harry becomes more 'deeper' to the point where Harry becomes Manipulative!Harry and pairs up with our Metamorphmagus but... I can't just start the chapter! Not even get passed three chapters! Does this ever happen to you guys?

I'm trying to wrestle myself through a block at the moment, so yes, I do hate them. It's not a block plotwise, it's just that I can't seem to get the darn words to flow.

How does Voldemort's malice and such equal manipulation?

I did the "deeper" connection thing in Temptations of a Dark Soul, and tried simple manipulation, but Harry can't just turn manipulative in one day.

Neither can he only be manipulative.

Voldemort is so much more than manipulative. He's an evil bastard.

Those traits have to come first, and they have to be slooow.

    As for writers block:

Just write the parts you can write. Skip ahead if you want. But just write what you can. Even if it doesn't sound right, you can go back and fix i. Writing the other parts of the story can pretty much give you a better idea of what you need before it.

I've done writers block before with some of my original stuff... Usually I just leave it be for a while, have fun with friends, and by the end of the week it's resolved itself.

Haha that sucks... usually when I have writers block I just go debate the series im writing it on with a friend, it resolves itself eventually.

If its an original work, I just wait a few days and come back to it.

Yeah I've had a block for the longest time what I ended up doing is delete what I had written for that chapter and started over.

Another thing is that you need to time your writing sessions where you can finish the segment of the chapter you are writing. If you finish the segment early don't start another segment of the story unless you know you will be able to finish it. If you still have some more to write in the segment when your session is up don't stop keep on writing until you get to a natural break in the storyline, If you stop in the middle of an explanation, dialog, or action then I guarantee that you will have a hard time writing again. For this reason I suggest giving yourself an hour leeway.

The first paragraph of any writing session will always be the hardest, so eliminate any distractions, whether it be people, your IM, lighting, temperature. I find that I need some ambient sounds as well, particularly music.

You should also spend sometime before your writing session to get a general idea of what you want in the chapter. My preference is several days before and idle musings in the morning, I write from early to mid afternoon.

It is better that when you find whatever works you continue to follow that pattern. The more you make it a habit the more in sync your body and mind will be to the activity. Meaning that over time as you do whatever you do, the easier it is for you to write and the less often you run into a writer's block.

    Hope this helps.

I have writers block on two of my stories. It is very annoying.

I normally have trouble starting the first chapter. I never like how I start off.

I have writers block for one story. No prizes for the whoever finds out which one this is. It's both a blessing and an annoyance.

I've been hit with writer's block on all of my stories, and it's reached the point where I'm thinking of pulling most of them and turning them into challenges. (Except for my Love Hina fic, for it's my Preciousssss.)

    I BEAT IT!

*Cervus does a dance and jiggles his manboobs at BMM wherever he his*

Did I happen to mention that I beat it?:)

I have weird methods when I'm writing. This time writing with my eyes closed wouldn't work so I opted for the 'write the scene backwards' method. Hey, I told you I had weird methods!

Just out of curiosity does anyone else write backwards every now and again?

Wow, thanks Cervus... err... yeah and congratulations!

Anyway, for helping get over writers block, I find the best method is to read a fic that you know is worse than yours. It always gets my creativity flowing, thinking up ways to make somebody else fic better. Plus it boosts your ego when you're feeling down :p!

I listen to music...What you need are the right songs. listen to the song while reading your work so far. It works for me but lately I've been having trouble with the songs.
