Been waiting for this game forever it seems. Got the CE pre-ordered. Hate that some retailers have different pre-order bonuses, they probably release them all as DLC in about 3 months.

They also have a flash based tie in called Dragon Age: Journeys. You can get some extra in game items for Origins, if you unlock achievements in Journeys.

If I remember right, the PC version was pretty much ready to be released back in the Spring (I even remember some online retailers having a March release date set). I am pretty sure that it got pushed back so that they could do a same day PC/console release.

Hopefully, along with the DLC, they have done extensive bug testing and the version that went gold isn't riddled with bugs.

Middy: I had a similar reaction, went from my old dell desktop to my custom rig. I swear my jaw dropped and I just stared at the monitor for a good 20 minutes.

This games looks incredible, it sounds almost like Fable except less cartoony and more :awesome. I pre-ordered my digital deluxe edition today, this is the most psyched I've been over a game in a long time.

    True that man.

No one whether I'm getting the 360 version or the PC one though, never been so glad Amazon existed since GTA IV came out.

I went for the PC version off of Steam because you get a mini expansion pack and a whole boatload of other in game shit for just a little bit more than the basic version.

20 GB HD space required? Holy motherfuck.

My computer can barely run TF2. What are my chances of it running this?

Different beast altogether. You should be alright turning some stuff down. Fresh install for me comes in at 15.1gb. Hell, the new Force Unleashed Sith edition is that big uninstalled.

Anyone playing yet? I just installed it, waiting to mess with it until after dinner. I'd love to play on the TV from around 8 feet away or so, but knowing RPG's the text will be too fucking small to read that far away =/

Edit: Also, Ebay has copies for 27-35$, what the fuck? It's 50$ in the store aint it?

Played it for about 3 hours today, and have a few things to say. (PC version)

1.The voice acting is brilliant. I knew I was in for a great story-telling experience, the game was made by Bioware. However, this just blows me away.

2.I dislike the dialogue system. In Mass Effect, when speaking you're given a list of options that express your general feeling and the game then fills in the actual voicing of a unique phrase. Here, not only do you choose directly what you say, but you don't get to hear your character talk. Apparently we're back to Final Fantasy VIII-back 2001 here. You just choose the phrase and it is not repeated back in dialogue. A nitpick, but very annoying after the greatness that was Mass Effect.

3.The combat system is the most fuck-all annoying thing I've ever used. I know it's standard in some RPG's to just click on something and have your character auto attack it, but I *hate* that! I am a micromanager at heart, and despise that the game takes away my ability to micromanage battles by forcing me to work on general strategy instead of letting me use one or two characters in a specialized attack form.

I play the game to actually play the game, not right click on something and watch my character whack away at it with a sword. The magic system is slightly better, it allows you to manually aim and set things up.

    4. Graphics aren't too shabby, not Crysis-great, but still pretty nice. And hell, this game (unlike Mass Effect) is actually decently optimized! The frame rate remains at a solid 60 on my laptop (2.6ghz OCed to 2.9ghz dual core proc and gtx 260m at standard clocks).

Overall, a decent game I suppose. I'll probably play it more for the story than the action. However I'd much prefer Bioware had scrapped this and just released Mass Effect 2 faster. This doesn't compare in terms of gameplay.

I havent messed with it yet, but after watching gameplay videos, I'm seeing too much Baldur's Gate, not enough Mass Effect style stuff. I'd hoped for being able to play in an aspect that wasn't Iso for a change and have it be viable, hopefully it'll be doable.

And I fucking hate the silent hero. Mass Effect was awesome about that.

I actually spent atleast a decade playing Tribes 1 off and on. Ridiculously fun game with all the mods, though I haven't played in about 5 years. Tribes 2 I didn't like as much, but mostly because it became too distance oriented. In the original you could step out of the base and blast away. Killing stuff > Traveling.

Ah see I was a massive fan of series like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights so while I greatly enjoyed the Mass Effect voiced hero style, the whole silent hero thing never bothered me.

Just a heads up. Dwarven origins is slightly buggy at the moment if you try and use your pre-order bonus gear... it might bug out. You'll have to force reload all your DLC. Had a slight conniption fit when I couldn't twink my char properly.

I don't know, I usually find VO to be shitty. Sheppard (Male) was really lame, Sheppard (female) was better but still. Maybe it's a matter of experience? I'm perfectly fine with this really. Of course, when I was younger, all the games I played were either on a portable system, or were on the N64 (which had 1/20 games with VO). If this is a strong negative point for you... go watch a movie :p. I personally think too much time and money is spent on VO when it could be spent on something else, like the gameplay.

I've only gotten to play an hour of Origins, since I've been so busy, but it's delivered so far. The auto attack is annoying, I agree, and I think the combat for melee characters is way too WOW-esque. Of course, I've also been playing Demon's Souls, so maybe I'm spoiled now.

I usually don't buy into Kotaku stuff, don't even really read it that often, but their review of DA:O was one of the earlier ones and seems to suggest the game delivers.

All right so I have to say Im enjoying the hell out of this so far, the gameplay is very fun, great graphics, a bit sluggish but nothing horrifying, interesting storyline and overall a very fun game. 9/10 for the sluggishness which I am currently trying to fix.

Picked up my (XBox360) pre-ordered copy of this yesterday and spent most of the day playing it, all I can say is it's bloody awesome. Great graphics, gameplay and characterization, and the story is pretty engaging.

Also, Morrigan just might become one of my all-time favorite characters in any game, she just that awesome.

I've seen some descriptions of the gameplay on PC, what is it like on the 360?

The controls are very similar to Mass Effect on 360, if you've played it on the platform. Micromanaging the combat using the pause function is pretty simple, though if you prefer to fight in real time there's only enough room for 6 abilities/spells in the shortcut menu.

There's still some lag in cut scenes though, kinda irritating when the game pauses to load when it switches point of view.

-sighs- I was all all looking forward to using my Female Elven Mage (named Shezza) for some nice F/F action with Morrigan. No Dice :/

What? Micromanaging is what this game is all about, you'll have to be real careful how you place your doodz and what spells/abilities they use so you don't end up killing your own men. That is if you're not a lamer and don't go for the hardest settings. If you play easy you can't even kill your own people, normal is just 50% damage, very hard is where it's at, that's the real challenge, I'm level 9 on my magi atm and it's hard as hell! As it should be.

I'm not sure how you play but when I enter combat I pause, select abilities to use, unpause, let them use their abilities, pause, select new abilities, repeat till dead, autoattack is only for when everything else is on cooldown (which is never for my mage, but some chars you get are kida crappy).

Only thing I found annoying was the camera, but you get used to it.
