Yeah some fanfics are way better as the books (but the majority is utter rubbish).

Thats just the books I have on the shelf near me, and they're all must reads. I started with Legend of Huma and went from there.

 

wow...thats alot..i'll probably go out and buy them all..not at once of course (i hate paperback books...whoever invented them is burning in hell at the moment) and hardcovers are usually pretty expensive....sigh...

 

most of them would be 5-8$ each or DL them off a bittorrent site for free

I see nothing wrong with not paying for books that have been out almost 20 years and are in thier like 20th printing, those authors are already beyond freaking rich =P

after you read those read preludes and the meeting sextet. I just started reading the dark disciples series and so far its pretty good. but there should be more raistlin teaches hogwarts students fanfics. either raistlin or dalamar or both go hogwarts.

 

avoid the jean rabe books. the ones with dhamon grimwulf.

it started okay, but then it turned to utter horseshit.

kind of like HP.

dragonlance was all i read (in the fantasy genre) as a kid. i loved to get lost in the world of krynn.

my friends would constantly try and get me into ra salvatores books (which i did end up reading and enjoying) but imo, they are two different types of stories.

salvatore is at heart an fantasy/action writer. his strength lies more in weaving an intricate fight scene - although his demonwars saga was really really good with the storyline.

dragonlance has never done fight scenes with the kind of action packed descriptors like salvatore...but it weis and hickman (and notable others) have always crafted a well thought out drama with super deep characters.

i know my complete library will be given to my children someday...and i hope they'll like it.

 

I as a rule read ONLY books written by margaret, i have maybe a dozen more, that out of principle i refuse to read.

I thought the eviler characters were a hell of a lot cooler than the good ones in these stories.... (couldn't stand tanis)

Raistlin, Fistandantilus, Dalamar, Ariakas and Lord Soth were all kick ass characters...
