Yes, Machiavelli wrote "the Prince" as a gift for an aristocrat and everything, and in that sense Dumbledore has been VERY successful. The light side LOVES the man (canon Harry too) and Death Eaters are terrified of him.

1.) Albus Dumbledore begins when he calls Harry into his office. Midway through the year. He knows at this point that Harry is a parselmouth. He MUST be aware of all the rumors swirling through the school (if he doesn't then he's retarded.) Harry is upset. Rather than try to stop the rumors, or offer Harry comfort and explain the situation to him he does...NOTHING?! THis is either neglecting his duties as Headmaster (something he has already done merely through the prescence of Severus Snape) or he is deliberately manipulating Harry (what I think). I mean, the guy is allowing one student to be singled out?

2.) Harry is locked in his room. THe WEASLEY'S rescue him?!?!?! Albus has already admitted that he watches Harry (see previous post to see complete list). Anyway, the twins tell Molly "they were locking him up." What do they do? nothing. I am sure they notified Albus, and he did nothing anyway.

3.) When ALbus is being led away he tells Harry "help will be offered to anyone who seeks it at Hogwarts." He is essentially giving Harry a license to do as he pleases.

4.) Whomping Willow. ALbus acts like he would have legitimately expelled Harry, when he reality there was NO chance of him expelling Harry.


There are more and better arguements for these, but I pretty tired. Didn't sleep much last night, but here it is. I may make it better later, or better yet, if someone can list others they can think of from this book.

 

i think the simple fact that the man is always aware of what happens at that school, and despite that, he's almost always conviently indisposed of at the climax at the end..?

SS, COS, POA (he suggests the time turner, yet does not go himself to make sure it goes right), GOF (gee he didn't bother securing Crouch worth a fuck and he got kissed, etc, etc) OOTP UMBRIDGE.

No, No, I have the perfect explanation for our beloved headmaster. He is schizophrenic. We all know he is a whacko and this explains it. One of his personalities knows what is going on and the other or others don’t. The problem is that he doesn’t have any control over the other personalities and they sometimes emerge when Harry is in trouble.

I dunno. Personally I see him as the tiny asian guy in that one episode of the Simpsons where the Yakuza fight with Fat Tony's mob. He just stands there watching the fight, not really doing anything except some passive shit, then getting involved and kicking the shit out of everyone... Before getting his ass kicked.

Or at least thats what he was trying to be.... Kinda backfired on him though.

 

I see him as this guy who looks oiut for EVERYONE and tries to help EVERYONE do the "right thing" even if he has to steer them there himself. He has good intentions, but doesn't see the larger picture that not everyone can be saved (nor should they), you need to fight dirty, and sacrifices need to be made, and people need to choose their own path and not be guided by his all-knowing hand (pretty arrogant too). He ALWAYS assumes the best of people to the point of Naivety and foolishness. In fact, if he wasn't so powerful, he would be a rube.

 

Then Dumbledore must be on drugs too. That might be the reason why he always eat those lemon drops and why he has abnormal sparkly eyes. Those lemon drops must be laced with potion that acts similar to speedballs. ‘Dumbledore the drug addict’, I like that title.

It even worse when Harry's eyes starts to twinkle too.
