Are there any good fics out there that have Dumbledore being a teacher to Harry in Magic, so that Harry is not his usual moronic self?

Becoming something more

This is the original version of the story. The author stopped writing it and started a re-write which is going at a slow pace.

His other story, An Education is also being re-written.

Harry might come off as super-powered in An Education, but his enemies aren't without skill either and Voldemort is a real Dark Lord, not a wanabee. The ending of year one sucked soo badly and the there are many cliched themes that the author stopped writing and is writing the story again.

An Education isn't good by any means, but it's alright for a one-time read. I believe the Becoming something More is in our Almost Rec thread.

Both feature a mentor!Dumbledore teaching Harry magic after the initial *spoilers*....

 

Not necessarily a straight up, "Dumbledore teaches Harry magic story" but I sorta got that vibe in this story from time to time. Like Harry and Dumbledore work together way more than in canon and Dumbledore does teach Harry some useful stuff. Also a different take on the canon years and the war in general. Some Daphne Greengrass romance thrown in there as well. All around a solid story that's complete.
