Right,I must be crazy. I must be to post a non-Harry centric, Hermione/Death Eater fic. I'll be a laughing stock. But this fic had heart. It took it's time and thankfully no matter what else they were doing at night the two characters hated each other. Not to mention the complete lack of ANY fairytale ending.I have to give it to the author, I could never have put my main character through so much pain. If only it wasn't first person so I could substitute 'Hermione' for 'Ginny'. If you're into unwillingly romance and torture click the link.

    EDIT: Fixed link

Well as far as Stockholm syndrome fics go this doesn't seem too bad, if you like that sort of thing.

There are two reasons I won't read it all and I would never enjoy reading it, one it's in the first person with Hermione as the subject and it's 45 chapters long so you have to really enjoy this sort of thing to actually bother reading it and really it just degenerates into one long torture scene.

1/5 but that's because I hate this sort of fic.

If this fic wants broader appeal it would have to move out of the first person (so that guys will want to read it) and also cut back on the torture, 45 chapters of the stuff just gets boring.

Forty five chapters of torture as in, Hermione's being tortured or reading the 45 chapters is torture?

EDIT: On principle alone I can't read a story like this... Hermione/Lucuis is definitely a turn-off for me, combined with a lot of torture... bleh. But, I read the first couple of chapters, just to be nice, and... certainly not my cup of tea, so I'll be nice and give it a 2.

So much torture. It's boring by third chapter, but as Hermione is one of my most hated characters, I can't really stop myself from reading more. Much like train-wreck that just hit MPAA building.

Writing is pretty good, there are no obvious mistakes or errors. The pairing you are most displeased about is, as far as I read, nonexistent. Most of the plot seems logical, Hermiones' pain endurance threshold seems realistic, she does eventually give in before it's too much. Not that I'd have known, I've never been tortured or tortured anybody.

I can't really give this story a rating, it's not exactly story for DLP, but it doesn't deserve bad rating, imo. On the one hand we have non-Harry-centric fic, with main character being tortured again and again, which makes it really boring quite soon. On the another hand, it's Hermione, most of what we read seem realistic, it's Hermione, author obviously put a lot of effort into writing this, and it's Hermione.

    That makes you a dumbass.

That's all there is to the story. I can appreciate the author attempting to portray Hermione's psychosis, but it just won't end.

I said that I hadn't read all of it, I have read the first 8 chapters and then I jumped ahead to see it changed, I checked a few of the other chapters and really the content isn't very different. Overall unless you like watching Hermione's psychosis or her torture, neither of which I particularly care about, then this fic is boring.

After having read 26 chapters i gave up.

Never really liked the story from the beginning but i found the torture very intriguing. However, since the story does not move forward at all it becomes tiresome fast. Either the author would have to write even more in-depth or cut the story down to ~15 chapters...

I read 'Hermione/Lucius'.... and after I vomited, I decided not to even read the summary. For me just that pairing got an automatic fail.... I mean... there's worse ones, but their all slash... seriously, this is Lucius "almost as flamingly gay as Lockheart" Malfoy we're talking about here... and Hermione isn't an 8 year old boy.

    Very well.

I'm actually quite unsure of what I think of this story. I read it all, that should be said in advance. In the earlier chapters, the torture is far too graphic for my taste, I only skimmed them and tried to gather the general outline. However, the later chapters, circa 40 onwards, are brilliant. I've rarely read a fic where the characters were actually so much in character as they are here. Hermione's psychosis is very well written and credible. I do suspect that the author has some personal experience with abuse, though. Otherwise it would have been impossible to describe it in so much detail.

Yeah, abuse. That brings me to what irks me most. The whole story, at least until chapter 20 or so, reads like an advertisement for abuse. The sheer amount of detail is overwhelming. I understand that the fic probably wouldn't have worked so well if it hadn't been so graphic, but still. Ah, I just don't really know what to think about this.

As for my rating - I give it a 4/5. I'm not someone to dismiss a fic simply on the choice of pairing, so Lucius/Hermione doesn't bug me. The story is undeniably well-written and, especially in the later chapters, very catchy.

Not to sound like I'm giving a typical knee-jerk forum response but: KILL IT WITH FIRE!

And either enjoyed dishing it out or taking it, whatever the case may be...

Or wrote this endorsement of abuse as therapy because they didn't like it... which seems unlikely, given the sheer volume of this pile of e-refuse. They are clearly into the subject matter, possibly even enamored.

Edit: And if Hermione and Lucius are together at the end of the story, we'll know which side of the issue the author comes down on. My bet says this story ends as an endorsement of such abuse, with Hermione shackled to Lucius for the rest of their lives.

Yes. Also, Malfoy rapes Hermione. Just sayin'...

How about 'Kill it with fire'?

Apparently you do know what to think of this fic and weren't 'irked' that much. 4 out of 5 is pretty high for (an irked) someone on the fence.

    So's herpes.

    Lol.

So I actually take the time to write a real review and get a 'knee-jerk' for it. Oh snap.

I gave the story a 4/5 because the author indeed does know how to write. I sometimes read books or stories simply because they are well written, meaning I can tolerate a lot of nonsense if the style and/or wording peak my interest. It's the only way how someone can enjoy books such as, e.g. 'Buddenbrooks' by Thomas Mann or 'Effi Briest' by Theodor Fontane. Of course obsessmuch doesn't even come close to them, but the characterisation and her style are quite remarkable.

I said that because I'm torn between shunning the fic for part of its content/detail and the exceptional writing. Are you never unsure of how you should evaluate certain things? That can happen if you actually take the time to reflect.
