Does anyone else keep mistaking Winterhold for Winterfell?

Urgh. So I'm doing this expedition for the College, and I'm stuck in a room where I have to blast a stone door with magic. Except blasting it with magic makes the game freeze.

Changing graphic settings doesn't do shit for me. Guess I'll have to put this quest line on the hold for now >_>

Try doing it in windowed mode. I had a similar thing where in Bonechill Passage, when you meet the Ice Wolf there the game crashes. Windowed mode fixed it.

I pretty much hated Oblivion, but with how everyone was cumming over this I just had to get it. AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. This game is just so much awesome.

Another thing I don't like after playing it for a while is the attack animations. I was playing as a Dunmer spellsword and the one-handed sword animation just goes "one... two, one... two," over and over, discounting the heavy attacks. Oblivion and the last two Fallout games had faster and more varied blade animations. Unless there's some perk that fixes that? I didn't play too far into it.

The game is fantastic visually, even on the twenty year old SDTV I've been playing it on. I love using magic, though I'm annoyed that I can't block with my sword and use the spell in my left hand at the same time without going into a menu and switching things around. And I'll reiterate that I hate the UI.

I hope someone changes the UI to something similar how Oblivion had it. This new UI is annoying as someone leaving a turd in your yard.

You also get a companion for siding with Azura during the obligatory TES Azura's Star quest, I'm assuming you'd get one for takeing it to the elf as well but can't confirm it.

Yeah, this would be my only complaint actually. The mouse acceleration fucks me off massively. I'm also having trouble aiming with my initial spells sometimes, as they hit walls or tables etc when they really shouldn't judging by my aiming path. Not the worst thing in the world, by annoying.

Also, can anyone tell me why it's actually worth learning a profession? I've ignored it so far, but should I really pick one up? And if so, which are the best?

Go for conjuration and alteration if you wanna be a mage and not shoot death from your hands. Those two schools let you summon minions, and some pretty good armor and weapons for yourself.

As for professions, you can make some really good items and the gold you get from selling them isnt bad.

I more mean in terms of Alchemy and Enchanting etc. They look interesting, but WoW has just put me off professions like you wouldn't believe.

Well WoW was repetitive and boring as fricken turds within the first month of playing because it's always the same boring crap, and you had to spend hours just getting a single stupid item later in the game for raids.

Is anyone having this problem? I'm right by a waterfall and my game keeps freezing. I tried windowed mode and turning down/off antialiasing and anisotropic filtering but I either freeze so bad I have to shut off my computer or it just closes by itself. Any fixes?

Oh yeah, how are werewolfs and vampires in this bitch? Because being a werewolf looks fucking awesome but I want to check my options here.

*Fixed* Nevermind, I finally got past that using Trig's post ^. Still open to how werewolfs and vampires though.

Has anyone else noticed the little red X's on the pre-order maps? Call me crazy, but I think that they're places where there's a good chance to find a random dragon.

'Cause I fought one on a mountain near Lake Yorgrim right where there's a little red X, and another just now in Eastmarch right where there's a little red X.

I'mma go check the rest of 'em out just to be sure.

EDIT: Actually, they might just be standing stones...

Started the game a couple of times, finally playing as an dark-elf spellsword type, but might update it to assassin. Playing on expert difficulty, at least the first dragon did not roast me, but not for lack of trying.

    Edit:
Those red X-es also seem to be on the map that is included in the standard version of the game.

The red x's might be spoilerish for some if they haven't advanced the main quest:
They are actually dragon burials, you can find and ingame map of them in your friend's basement.

On another note, already clocked in twenty hours of gameplay and the majority of that was exploration. There isn't an aspect I don't enjoy with an Orrish grin on my face, even lockpicking, after breaking all my lockpicks in masterlocks, is awesome. The game is everything I wanted my overmodded Morrowind that kept crashing every five minutes to be. And not a single glitch or freeze so far.
