And when we first heard about Citadel, BioWare told us that the final story DLC for Mass Effect 3 definitely was not and would not be a Citadel DLC, nor would it take place on the Citadel in any capacity. That was a baseless rumor and groundless leak, and we should put no stock in it.

And then the Citadel DLC came out. It's actually called the Citadel DLC. You get a luxury apartment, on the Citadel.

So yeah. That's a thing. And it's a thing for a reason. Redguard would probably be close to being done, but if a fifth big DLC is on the way, they probably haven't even started on it yet. They aren't going to want to commit to anything. They're going to deny any leaks or synopsis, even if it's things about the core plot, because everything is still subject to change. Things in Redguard are still subject to change. That wouldn't be locked in yet, and it certainly wouldn't have been cleared for official discussion, nevermind anything scheduled to come after it.

tl;dr, they're going to deny whether it's true or not. They kind of have to. I won't take their word on it any more than I'll take the leaker's word on it.

I decided to get away from the center of the map and explore the entire western side I'd neglected in my previous 40 hours of wanderings around. I installed Interesting NPC's, which evidentally adds a fuckton of new npcs wandering around, a more monsters mod, which added everything from dinosaurs, to troll zombies, to boss monsters.

Love the game, it's a massive time sink, and still haven't even went and talked to the greybeards again, and I'm 16 hours into this character.

Isn't Roarian involved with that mod?

Well I'd be interested in Fallout 4 despite their last game. Fallout 3 was rather lackluster in a lot of ways, but if they can make an original story instead of rehashing Fallouts 1 and 2, have a setting that actually makes sense and fix the gameplay some, it might be decent. Ideally though, I'd just want them to give everything to Obsidian again.

Not entirely accurate. They have confirmed that they will continue to offer game support and small-scale updates, which means that we will continue to get official patches, and there's still hope in the cards for those of us who wanted an official weapons pack or additional content from the GameJam.

However, they have confirmed that there will be no more large-scale DLC like Dawnguard or Dragonborn.

I've mixed feelings. On the one hand, I was kind of hoping for at least one more. I really was. On the other hand, they've stopped production because they've started another major project that's taking everyone in the company to do.

I wonder if Redguard might not be a DLC, but the next Elder Scrolls game.

Or, dare I even imagine to dream, they've decided to go ahead and do Prey 2, geared exclusively for the next gen systems.

The only reason I'd want a Fallout 4 is the chance it could lead to Obsidian making another Fallout: Whatever. Otherwise I'd prefer to see Elder Scrolls 6.

You mean there's going to be no DLC where I can stick my dragoncock in the Thalmor's eye and skullfuck them once and for all?

    This game is a failure.

I was honestly never really expecting the defeat of the Thalmor to be a DLC. Their expulsion from Skyrim, possibly, but not their defeat.

It would be like World War II being a DLC for a FPS. You couldn't do the subject justice. Assuming it didn't just skip over their defeat and place the next game in the aftermath, it would need to be a game on it's own to be good.

That's why I'm kind of hoping the next TES is going to be TES:Hammerfall. Hammerfall is the heart of the resistance against the Thalmor, at least at the current moment. It would make sense for a game focused on defeating them to take place there.

They have trademarked Redguard. I'll second that. Anything to kick some smug elf ass.

With the great success that Skyrim was, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to capitalise on that.

My best friend is resolutely Stormcloak, while I support Empire, but we both agree: fuck the Thalmor.

I am neutral as neutral can be re: Empire v Stormcloaks. I only pick one to end the war. Alduin is trying to kill everyone, that vampire douche in Dawnguard is too, there are eldritch abominations running around and Dovahkiin just has no time for your civil war bullshit.

And yes, fuck the Thalmor in their eye sockets.

I side with the Empire because I think they're the lesser of the two evils at this point.

Also, the Empire knows how to play the game, and Ulfric doesn't. You can find a lot of evidence knocking loose in Skyrim that they've been planning to go to war with the Thalmor again since the last one ended. They just wanted to do it on their terms, when they knew they had a good chance of winning. Ulfric, by comparison, would throw everyone into a huge fight immediately and damn the odds, and anyone who didn't immediately commit to helping him (and by extension dying a horrible death) would be given a middle finger and a "if you aren't with me you're against me speech."

Ulfric would get everybody killed in a pointless, glorious last stand.

Seeing how we actually stand a chance of winning if we play our cards right, I'm kind of not okay with that.

In all fairness, though, the Empire doesn't try very hard to look like the good guys. The game opens with them trying to kill you, the Designated Stormcloak Representative is probably the biggest Bro in the entire game, and not only do you almost have to initially side with the Stormcloaks unless you're some kind of idiot, but the first five minutes have you walking through a thoroughly-well-used Imperial torture chamber, complete with actual torture. With lightning bolts even, because if you're going to be bad, you might as well be Darth Sideous bad.

It's kind of a shame there's no compromise option, where you can tell Ulfric and the Empire to pull their heads out of their asses and stop dicking around. I think siding with Ulfric is a horrible idea, and I think he was primarily motivated by greed when he killed Toryigg, but by the same token, I don't really feel all that comfortable killing him in turn, because an eye for an eye isn't terribly great logic to use in an all-out-war situation, and even if it was, it's not like Ulfric is the only one to blame, here. His rants about the Empire being corrupt are at least partially true: siding with the Empire puts motherfucking Maven Blackbriar in as a Jarl, and you can't pretend that's even remotely okay.

And I really don't like having to slaughter my way through a bunch of Nord patriots to get to Ulfric, either. It's just dick moves all around no matter what you side with. I'm just left desiring some sort of compromise to be made. One that actually sticks, mind, and not the temporary ceasefire you can get from the summit.

In the civil war between the Empire and the Stormcloaks, I'd side with...The Dark Brotherhood.

Everyone's gotta die eventually, might as well help them along.

Really though, I feel bad for the Empire. No matter what they actually want, the Thalmor have their collective balls in a vice. Ulfric, who has the freedom to do as he pleases (and who may or may not be a Thalmor sleeper), tells his people to die for him and his beliefs by appealing to their patriotism. No sympathy for him; he made his choice and people are dying for it.

That aside, I'm disappointed there won't be any more DLC's. While I'm still a little lost and confused with Dragonborn, I was pleasantly surprised by Dawnguard and I was looking forward to more like it.

I don't believe Ulfric is a Good Guy, but I find his position at least understandable. To me he comes across as someone who doesn't grasp the larger picture of what's going on. He sees the Thalmor dragging people away and the Empire not doing anything to stop it, and gets pissed. That's understandable.

The problem arises, I think, from the fact that Ulfric is not seemingly all that good at playing politics. He either hasn't realized, or simply doesn't care, that before he made the fuss about Talos worship, it was still banned, but the Empire was allowed to police itself, and it basically didn't give a shit. As long as you weren't wearing "Talos Rules" t-shirts, you could do whatever the hell you liked. It was flat-out mentioned that people who worshiped Talos just had the shrines in their homes, instead of going to the Chapels of the Divines to do it. No one questioned it, and the Empire never bothered to spot-check for that kind of thing.

It's only because Ulfric (and other people like Ulfric) made a big deal about it that it came to this. The Empires hands were tied, yes, but they had managed to convince the Thalmor to let them self-police. With people openly causing problems, the Thalmor had the excuse they needed to go "see, you need our help. We'll send in our Inquisitors," and the Empire couldn't say no.

It's not like the Empire was cracking down on people before this. Hell, in case you haven't noticed, there's a giant statue of Talos in the middle of Whiterun, and in spite of Balgruff saying he's neutral, Heimskr is openly preaching about Talos to anyone who will listen in the middle of the street. Huge swaths of the fandom seem to hate on him, to the point that there are mods specifically for torturing and abusing him, but none of them seem to realize that his very existence (and the fact that he continues to exist) is a not-very-subtle point being made about the politics of the situation in Skyrim.

Ulfric is an extremely straightforward guy. He sees a problem, and he wants to run it the hell over. That's why, while I certainly believe he's a terrible person, I'm not fully prepared to believe that his killing of Toryigg was some kind of conspiracy. Quite frankly, I don't think he's subtle enough to do something like that. He's too much of a hothead to use much in the way of cloak-and-dagger venom type trickery. I think he saw Toryigg playing the necessary politics to keep Skyrim secure and give the Empire the breathing room it needed after the war, got pissed from what he saw as a betrayal of Skyrim's traditional values, and then killed him. And that's why he would make a terrible High King. He'd try to punch the Thalmor until they go away, and that's not going to work.

And he'd alienate everyone who could possibly help him in the process, including the people who would logically be on his side already, and that's not exactly a winning strategy for fighting a massive land war against a superior power. The Redguards hate the Thalmor, and the Dunmer aren't exactly pleased that the Empire pulled it's garrisons back to Cyrodill to leave them unprotected during the Oblivion Crisis, but SKYRIM IS FOR THE NORDS and Dark Elf/Argonian shantytowns are not going to earn him much in the way of international political credit.

I don't want Ulfric in charge; he'd get everyone killed. And I don't want Ellisef in charge either, because she's wishy-washy as hell, and her only qualifications are "I had sex with the King," which doesn't exactly inspire confidence. She doesn't even notice that the motherfucking Wolf Queen is coming back to life right outside her doorstep.

Balgruuf, though, managed to stay on the Empire's good side while also having a giant Talos Statue in the middle of the city and the only Talos priest this side of Hammerfall preaching in the streets. He's probably the most capable and qualified person in Skyrim for the crown of the High King besides you, and you don't even really count, because you're a Shezzarine, and that's like cheating.

I'd like Elisif as High Queen as she seems highly susceptible to your ministrations. She shows more affection towards you.in dialogue than most marriable NPCs. It'll be awesome to be the super duper secret High King, Shezzarine be damned.
