    I'm fairly certain I saw all episodes this season but for the life of me, I can't remember that woman. Who the hell is she and where did she come from?

    I don't remember exact situations, but it went something like this:

    - sherlock snoops somewhere against wishes of the subject
    - "eh, sherlock is a dick so often…"
    - joan snoops somewhere, against wishes of the subject
    - "oh, joan cares. She's awesome"

    So, this season ended with a bit of a downspiral for both, Joan and Sherlock.

    Joan obviously couldn't handle the whole Shinwell thing as well as she'd like and Sherlock seemed to have his own problems.

    But fuck me, his subplot in episodes 23 and 24 came the fuck out of nowhere, imo. At least to me. If there were subtle hints, they might have been too subtle. And even if there were any, it still feels bizarre.

    I mean, could be interesting where this leads next season, heck might go to be the last season but this thing with the lady? That was just bad.

    Nope, not out of nowhere. Getting your head bashed in with a glass bottle hard enough to shatter said bottle is not healthy for you. I was honestly surprised when the next episode had him almost completely fine back at the brownstone, just a little bruised up. I'm 99% sure that the hallucination with his mother, his forgetting stuff, and his sudden need to sleep is all directly related to Shinwell beating the crap out of him.

    Good point, hadn't really though about that. Thought more that it would be a tumor or something like that.

    Mhm, and it adds on to what you said about Joan's downward spiral if true. She should have seen the symptoms and realized something was wrong, but she was too caught up in Sherlock always being unflappable and Shinwell being a murderer/killed.

    "Since when do you sleep?"

    "You? Forgetting something?"

    Yeah, the guilt is going to eat her alive if it was Shinwell's fault.
