Jeez, and here I always assumed the slashers would know enough to tread more carefully than that.

Slasher's are taking over FF.net. They have gotten beyond the point where they would be careful. For example if you go to FF.net and look for pairings then this is what you see...

    H/DM - 550 pages
    H/SS - 110 pages
    H/SB - 19 pages
    Hellatrix - 3 pages
    Honk's- 10

Heh...I continue like this it will seem unfair. HP/GW is the most popular het pairing is it not?

    HP/GW - 354 pages....

That's because if the fangirls want sickly sweet absolutely awful Harry/Ginny saccharine sweetness, they can just reread the epilogue.

    And you think that's scary?

Try looking for crossovers, it'll make you want to stab something, Harry/Xander/Riddick pairing for example. *shudders*

In an attempt to lead us back to the original topic without shocking too many people I shall use my own random pic that could relate to the original topic... If you think hard enough about it.

hmm, it appears she couldn't find anyone to write her fuckfest of a story. So it's been put up on her profile for adoption alongside another wonderful idea of hers.

Besides the fact that I saw that challenge referenced on these forums already, something about it caught my eye upon reading ti this time...
Now... I know quite a few authors who could have 30k words in 4 to 6 chapters... and sometimes even 2 or 3 on a good day. Personally, I'm generally not a fan quite as much of the stories that have chapter lengths of only 1,500 words, as a 30k word/20 chapter story would have, or even the 1,666 word average of a 50k word/30 chapter story. They really give a "...that's it?" feel to the chapters with such a short length that you can read it in around 5 to 10 minutes. Still, I admit that some stories do prevail with such chapter lengths, just not very many of them.

In my preference, the chapters are at least 3k to 5k words, which would be 12 to 20 pages at the standard word count of novel pages of 250 per page.
If it's one of the authors that puts out a solid 10k word high-quality chapter at a time(40 pages... about 40-60 minutes of reading on the average of a minute to a minute and a half per page), now those are a true gem.
