I'm having a little trouble with EUIII at the moment. It's not letting me cheat. I basically play it with tiny nations because it usually seems more fun. The downside to that is that it's almost impossible at the start without a little extra funding.

Alt + 21 on the numpad and some other weird symbol are supposed to open the command console so I can enter cheats but I have neither a numpad or that weird little symbol and Alt + 21 on the regular number keys doesn't work at all.

Any thoughts?

 

What kind of keyboard are you using? If it's laptop, there is usually a shift or function key you can hit to press the, I guess, the special keys to work.

The only experience I have with a situation like this is in Kotor where you have to press alt+~ to bring up a command line. Also in that game to make sure the cheat worked you had to enable a line of code in a document.

Not sure if it's the same here or not. But that's all I got.

 

If you're feeling adventurous enough, you can always edit the save game file itself. Make sure you start the game, then save and go to your install directory. Paradox Interactive > EU3 > Saved Games > Open the save game file(Notepad+ works great for this).

Ctrl+F to find the "human=yes". After you've found that, type in or scroll down until you find this column:

Just change the treasury amount to whatever you wish. If still feeling gimped you can mess around with your tech levels and leader skills which are found above that to give you some edge.

And in case you didn't know, early on trade is a very solid source of income if the sliders aren't horrible for it.

 

When I edit in notepad and try to save it I'm told to contact the system admin. I'm the system admin. -_-

When I try to save as it just says access denied.

 

Try manually running notepad as Administrator.
