I was just wondering what everyones favourite genre is at the moment, and how there tastes have been influenced by DLP

Before I tipped up here at the end of 2005, I was a H/HR shipper, I read a story where Harry was a vampire, and began googling for Vamp!Harry fics. I found myself here. And since I have never looked back at H/Hr. In fact I really dont like it anymore. For my first few months here I spent most my time in Independant or General fourms looking for fics. But gradually I spread my wings, and now I would say my favourite Genre is Time travel, which until a few weeks ago I would not go near. AU and Time travel are my two fav genres on offer here now. I just thought it was interesting how much my tastes have changed and wondered what other peoples favourites were (I wont touch crossovers though, but someday that may change)

 

I like Time and Dimensional Travel the most, because it allows ridiculous situations without the author ruining the story trying to explain it all.

I like HarryCentric Romance only in unusual characters, where they stay the same. (Bellatrix doesn't turn into a nice person.)

Dark!Independent I've given up all hope on. Everything is so cliche'd or abandoned that the only one I'll ever read, all false modesty aside, is my own Temptations.

Evil!Harry is a new genre I am exploring.

Psychotic/Insane/Twisted!Harry is a fast growing favorite.

Humor/Parody is only good when it's written by nonjon or Rorschach's Blot. But even Rorschach is losing his touch, as seen by the later chapters of Make a Wish.

Harem!Harry or Veela!Harry I hate. It's so overdone and made so unbelievable that the only good ones are MrRiddler's Secrets of a Male Veela and BigD's Harry Potter and the News

 

Mine is AU and time travel. I have read so many independant Harry fics that they get old.

 

I read so many H/Hr fics back then, I am sick of it.

I like Harry AU fics,Independent,Dark.

A little Romance fics here and there when I feel like it.

 

I used to like romance fics before I came to DLP where I discovered those kick ass evil Harry fics. Good job with lust Vash, if you ever read this.

I disagree with you, Amerison, about the humor and parody. Lots of authors do humor and most of them create some funny work. Shezza88 has a humor fic which made me laugh my ass off.

I havent seen many harem harry fics so it is still new to me. Mrridlers Veela fic is good. I just read it a few days ago.

Big D hasnt updated his fic in a while so i consider it to be abandoned.

I also like AU, Time travel, and humor fics.

And of course the Independant if it's not cliched.

 

I tend to enjoy AU and Time Travel fics.

Im actually not a big fan of Evil Harry yet, mostly because theres not much character reaction and development going on besides killing.

Dark Harry is good if it isnt Cliched

I hate Harem fics, it ruins the story 90% of the time.

I perfer to read when Harry is dating any female besides Ginny and Hermione who is around his age.(Ie: Padma, Susan, Lavender)

I normally do not care for Bellatrix, Narcissa or Fleur pairings because they usually turn into Harems, SmutFests or a ridiculous amount of Bondage, which im not into.

 

AU, Slytherin!Harry where Harry really is a Slytherin, not acting like a frickin' Gryffindor

Dark!Harry, Timetravel...I cannot read fics where Harry is not dark at all. I just cant.

Harem...na.

 

AU as a general favourite but I flirt with quite a few genres, as long as the individual stories are good.

 

I'm an AU or evil man, myself. However, the stories that hold the most pleasure for me are Post-OotP Indy! or Dark!Harry stories that are original. Sadly, those are few and far in between, now, and AU or evil are the next best thing.

 

I'll read pretty much anything but my favourite has to be Au/Time Travel (which pretty much makes it AU). I like the ones where he's sent back to his own body so many years back. I'm waiting on the next chapter of Young Again: The Rewrite so that should be fun.
Like I said I'll read pretty much anything, bar slash and H/G. I must admit my favourite pairing is H/Hr - only because I HATE Ron so completely I want to crush him into dust.
Evil!Harry is starting to appeal me, but only when I'm in a bad mood and want to hurt something.

au/travel here only because the independent!harry is starting to get boring (nothing new?).

one caveat: au/travel if it stays FAR away from being a MWPP or Founders' era fic. moreso the MWPP time period ones. can't stand the glut of fics that send harry to get to know his dad as the DADA teacher.

 

slytherin!harry when done right or independant!harry.

 

I like Action/Adventure fics. Drama as well only if it's done right. Angst can also be ok...once again only if it's done right. Emo! and Cut-Myself-Till-I-Die!Harry is retarded.

Romance?...Meh...there's only a few i'd read. Humor's ok.

 

When I started reading fan fictions, I just wanted to read post-HBP canon like stories. Then I discovered the Independent and Dark!Harry fanfics and stumbled over DLP. Now my favorites are AU/Time-Travel and sometimes Evil!Harry stories as the Independent and Dark stories are full of clichés nowadays. But if the story is somewhat original and well-written I still enjoy these fics.

 

I like the majority of the "Harry never went to Hogwarts because of _______," but, like I said before, my favorites are stories such as Yarrgh's and Amerisions, Indy!Harry without being clichéd and still pretty interesting.

 

My all time fav's are true Slytherin Harry stories but after being here I want Dark/Evil/Overlord Harry. I now like Harry=Tom stories; where H is T, where they are allies, where H raise T and vice versa.
Always Hated Gryffindor since canon, mainly due to HG/Weasleys'/Dumbledore.

 

Favs have to be AU and time travel...I'm pretty into HP/Stargate crossovers at the moment too, but there are so few good ones.

The mere word, "independant" makes me shudder with apprehension now...

 

I used to read H/Lily a lot until they became but not a trickle in the realm of fanfiction.

My faviorite genre is phycopath Harry where he really is nutters. And Time and Au fics.
