Baam/Androssi OTP?

On (un)related news, new Feng Shen Ji chapter. Anybody else reading this?

And Dragons Rioting chapter 5 - it's not often a manga I'm reading falls into the "irredeemable" category by the fifth chapter, but this has managed.

 

I guess. I still prefer Yuri to Androssi (but only by a little now, and that gap narrows almost every time Androssi shows up lately), but that's never going to happen and it would probably be much less interesting if it did.

 

Baam/Hwa Ryun 4lyfe.

Also Yellow Turtle is probably the best nickname ever, and I'll be disappointed if anyone mentions that woman by name again.

Good chapter I thought. Rak was awesome and there was some nice development there.

 

I'll probably never be able to make myself like Hwa Ryun. Can't get past the fact that all of the horrible shit Baam has gone through has been largely based on her doing. After all she's the person who gave FUG the play by play on how to ruin his life.

 

Completely true. I just like her because she's hawt. Out of realistic ships, considering that Yuri has been marginalised since her arrival in the first arc, Androssi is the only solution. Even bunny girl had to go and be evil.

 

Well at least you're not alone. Hwa Ryun X Baam was the second most popular couple as voted by the Korean fans. Obviously there's some kind of dynamic there people like.

Though we are talking about people who also voted Koon X Androssi 6th and Parakewl X Rachel 4th.

 

What was the first, out of curiosity? Probably Baam and Koon. >_>

 

Baam X Yuri. If Baam X Koon was an option, it didn't end up in the top ten.

 

Well, at least their taste isn't universally terrible then? But ugh, Koon and Androssi would be horrible.

 

I think it's that thing where if two characters dislike each other they are inevitably shipped by a large group of people. Can't remember the name of it.

 

Fangirlism. It's scientific and all.

 

I think a lot of Baam/Hwa Ryun shipping comes from their "innocent" (?) cohabitation (she is his guide, so people assume they've been together even though it's not explicit). Baam was a teenager at the time so it's a classic set-up.

Plus, a beautiful girl (best-looking girl in part one according to the author, and he also says that's a plot point) calling you "my god" is probably considered hawt. Even when it's not, y'know, on the bed.

 

Haha, SIU can have whatever opinion he wants on who looks he best, but Yuri > Hwa Ryun in every aspect including looks. Anyway, SIU also claims that Rachel is his favorite character, so...yeah.

 

Actually he said she's the most beautiful regular on the 2nd floor during part 1. It doesn't include Yuri.

On a more serious note: Until Yuri shows up more I refuse to see her as a character worthy of comparison to others. So much wasted potential SIU, why you do this?

 

Because she's a really powerful Princess highly favored by Zahard due of her even more amazing potential.

She's a late game player like Urek. He still had the prologue centered on her to show she's around and involved in events. Just like Urek in the 21st floor test showed he and Wingtree were.

SIU also said the next major arc will be centered around the princesses, so she'll probably show up then too.

 

What would Yuri do if she were around on a chapter to chapter basis anyway? She can't compete in the tests with the team because she's a High Ranker. And having her around renders Baam and the rest of the regular cast entirely useless. She's more broken than Thundergod Cid armed with a nuke at the present point in the story. So then, she would basically be reduced to doing little but sitting back and cheerleading for Baam, which is very much beneath Yuri's amazingness. We'll not be seeing her on a routine basis 'till the end, when Baam and co. have become strong enough in their own right that Yuri could battle alongside them without Mary Sue'ing the entire plot.

 

Pretty much this. SIU has stated that high rankers/family heads will be appearing near the middle of the story, meaning we still have some ways to go. (Wasn't ToG supposed to be 4 seasons, IIRC?)

 

Eh, who said anything about Yuri tagging along with Baam? Alternative view points and stories are a thing that happens in ToG. After all there was that one interlude chapter she showed up in.

 

We've almost covered two seasons and Baam is only on 30F. Not even a quarter up the Tower. Unless SIU plans to end the story before Baam reaches the top, there almost has to be more than 4 seasons.
