I...didn't? I did, however, suggest that the Tower might be seeing them that way because of this, at least temporarily. The storm will pass. I had thought before SIU's blog post came out that it might be a more permanent thing, though. They are far weaker, though, relative to the system they're trying to overthrow. That, too, is direct from SIU. Their influence doesn't even match up to a single one of the Great Families.

Actually, all SIU said is that they would be important later on. At what point and in what role and capacity all remain to be seen. I doubt it will be in an antagonist's role, though. By the point that they reassert themselves, Baam will probably have managed to run afoul of the bigger, nastier leviathans in the Tower (the Empire itself).

Anyway, enough on that topic. SIU has spoken on the matter and there's not really anything more that needs be said.

Loving the feels in this one. I guess Souma, too, has that cooking with heart business on lockdown.

 

I keep expecting, with almost fatalistic resignation, for Hajime to disappoint me.

Cooking Like a Boss.

It wasn't much.

 

The random chapters I've read has made me want to actually read the entire Cooking manga. It has just the right kind of overblown art to make an everyday thing interesting. The arousal pics don't hurt, either.

 

You ought to, really. I never thought I could actually enjoy a series about cooking and I went into Shokugeki no Soma with every expectation of disliking and dropping it. And it's amazingly good.

 

Started from the beginning, now on chapter 29. Loving it! Will definitely finish it today.

I now also get some of the arguments about the characters earlier in this thread. If you ask me, Souma/Erina OTP, while Tadokoro is... I wouldn't have minded if she dropped out.

 

I don't know what's upmwith cooking manga, since I don't even like the cooking parts very much, but there are three excellent ones that I'm reading,m Shokugeki is the best, even if the orgasmic parts annoy me, there is also Nobunaga no Chef and Hell's Kitchen (bothe by the same author but very different artists).

About TWGOK, I like him choosing Chihiro, she was the one who had more personality by far, and both times he conquered her there were excellent romance scenes. Since the fighter girl that was my favorite wasn't even a goddess, I approve very much.

 

Nobunaga no Chef is indeed awesome (wish it updated more, though). Haven't read Hell's Kitchen yet, though I suppose I'll have to when I have some more free time.

Honestly, it would have been so much better if Tadokoro had actually gotten expelled as a consequence of the whole Shinomiya thing. Would have done a lot to put over how much of a shark tank Tootsuki really is. Can't say I really approve of Erina being the OTP though, at least at this particular point. Perhaps later, depending on how the author develops her character.

 

She is a girl who has the most robust palette. He is a guy who has a fetish for cooking really weird flavors. It's a match made in heaven.

 

You're not wrong. I'm just really, really put off Souma/Erina by the Jouichirou thing. I'm open to the pairing if the author resolves that in a satisfying way, but as things are right now...no.

 

Nah, if they expelled Tadokoro that would kill her, and really piss of Souma. I like Tadokoro quite a bit, I'm just put off to the pairing, or her having a main role. But I do hate Erina, a lot. And Raine is right, amidst the rant, she is the Arrogant Oujou-Same every bit, but x100 in every annoying trait. I'm all for Alice, shei is adroanle, sexy and awesome. And her cooking is really interesting. Or the Meat chick, she is hot.

 

Ah, so Erina has a thing for Souma's father. That's a bit off-putting... it's like Asuna and Takamichi all over again.

Author also seems to be pushing the Tadakoro pairing a fair bit lately... it's what I was most worried about.

I really like the tournament thing - all these characters popping up, with cool redesigns. Props to the author for those! I feel like we're starting the "main" part of the story.

Shokugeki is definitely a 5/5 manga.

 

Berserk updated, and more importantly, at the end of the chapter they confirmed that it is off hiatus and will be returning to a monthly release. The next chapter is slated for May 23rd.

After reading Shokugeki last chapter again, I noticed something:

It seems to me that Alice met Souma's father, the cook who gives her the hot food, to me, is him. Interesting, really interesting, if I'm right.

 

I assumed that was part of her hallucination, and she was seeing herself as a child in the cold and Soma giving her the rice. If you look closely, it's the same dish he served her. Unless his father made the exact same thing years ago and just randomly had some on him in the middle of the snow in a foreign country, I'm pretty sure it's Soma.

 

I noticed that too, about the same dish, that's why I thought it's his father, that made a similar dish to her once, or it could be a hallucination, I'm only hopeful.

About he just having that with him in the middle of snow in a foregin country, we know so little about him, and the mystique built around him is so big, that I kinda expect something like that.
