There actually is a 3D Mario out on the WiiU, but yeah, you're absolutely right there. It's a really interesting time to see what they're doing, because man is that system ever flailing.

For context, the Vita's doing better. Significantly better (it's still pretty dead, though.)

Yeah, the new 3D Mario that just came out (Wtf, 1.5 years after the system) is good, but it doesn't feel like "The" Mario game for a console, you know? Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy all felt like The Mario Game for their system, but this one doesn't feel like it has enough actual story to take that spot.

Maybe it's weird I'm expecting story out of a Mario game, but I really do enjoy 'em.

Man, the closer we get to the release of Pillars of Eternity, the more hyped I'm getting. I hate that I'm this excited about an Obsidian release.

Isn´t that still months/years from getting finished? I mean I have seen the latest updates and I concur with your hope that this game will be quite interesting but nothing hinted at a release in the near future.

And I should use this chance to say how surprised I am that so many Kickstarter financed games turn(ed) out so well. Even the worst I played (Shadowrun) was quite entertaining and I can´t wait to see how the really big ones turn out.

It's only out for backers atm. I'll be picking it up on the 28th when it comes out.

Is the campaign always going to be dealing with the douchebags escorting the Prince? Rook and the villagers is compelling to me but every time it switches back to the giants I just lose all will to keep playing.

Just finished Dragon age 2. Modded to hell. But the disgusting lack of speel and skills was very bad. That I had more problems with act 1 bosses then with the final boss is nothing... but the end... what the hell...

I still enjoyed it more than part one, due in large part to Isabela/ varic/ Merrill I suppose.

That, and I found the combat far more satisfying. I didn't encounter these odd difficulty swerves you allude to.

Maybe you were just better at it at the end?

    @ Tehan.

Yeah he can be a spoiled brat, but you just to finish that part of the campaign because the rest deals with the villagers.

Oh good, I was worried the entire game was going to be split evenly between Aragorn McStudly and his smokin' daughter vs bunch of old cranky guys and the little shit of a prince.

So, just saw a trailer for that shadow of mordor game.

Looks like Assassin creed meets the Arkham games.

The little gameplay footage I just saw got me excited.

Gameplay looks like it might be cool. I like the Arkham-style combat.

I imagine the Tolkien lore enthusiasts might have some things to say about the story though, especially the whole wraith thing.

Yeah.. the game looks interesting but not sure why they placed it in a Lord of the Ring setting and even less why the choose Mordor. And yeah it will probably ignore pretty much every bit of lore that exists. But with gameplay like that I am willing forgive that.

I haven´t played Broken Age personally but watched as somebody did it and I can say one thing. It is too short and too easy. We finished the game in ~3 hours. Which ,even for an Adventure, is not enough time to enjoy it. So if you plan to play/buy it then you are better off waiting for the second part.

And last but not least I have another Kickstarter for those interested in realistic, medieval RPGs. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a first-person, open world, realistic RPG that will take you to Medieval Europe in a time of great upheaval and strife. Or to be more precise you get between the fronts of two brothers warring for a kingdom. It is a game without magic, dragons or any other fantasy elements and I think that Witcher without magic describes it best.
Considering they have an investor (from what I gather they simply did not find an publisher willing to take the risk of an non fanatsy RPG which shows how much those people know) there is only a minimal risk if you want to preoder/back the game. Release is planned for Q4, 2015

So apparently at the end of a Heist in Thief you will always get caught and go into a scripted chase scene which basically makes anything you'd done up to that point obsolete. Plus apparently aiming at guard and swinging your blackjack is gone, we now have press whatever button and presto take down animation.

I get that things are different and they have to appeal to a broader audience but that doesn't mean they can't be the people who make pure stealth games popular again. I thought that by using the franchise they wanted to build on it, instead its just a cash in.
I won't be getting the game especially because of that scripted nonsense. Way to cripple your players Eidos.

Yeah, i was keen on the game until i read about forced capture.

I'm not even a fan of the previous games, never played them. I love stealth games though and this is coming at a time where there's a real game draught, it could have been huge.

I thought whathisface is supposed to be a master thief? Sounds like he's the most inept thief of all time to me...

I just played four chapters of the Banner Saga on hard mode, after stopping midway through chapter 3 on normal to try the more challenging difficulty. I like the setting, the story and even the combat, but man, the game is frustratingly stingy on renown (the all-things currency) and items. Does it get better later on, maybe with more wars or something? It's weird that I find myself wanting to grind, but it's like that with this game.

Beside that, there are a bit too many "lazy writing" instances (where characters ultimately give the same answers even when you pick different dialogue options) and meaningless choices (as far as I can tell, anyway), but I can't say I would have known that, if I had simply played through it once without restarting. Maybe that's why they employ a terrible saving system?

Hm.. not really. Even if you use every opportunity to get renown you will still have not huge quantities (You do get quite a few items if you make the right choices, especially towards the end). It is part of what makes this game so special, the decision between hero(level up item) and the caravan.
This isn´t ME were you can a have a perfect playthrough.. somebody will suffer no matter what you do.

And before you call some choices meaningless try to finish the game.. the last third has some heavy consequences of very early choices.

PS: I do think that the game only has 5 or 6 chapters so you are near the end. It end clearly hints at a sequel.
