Nah. It's weird, I know, but generally I try to avoid that stuff. It's not like I don't have other stuff to play at the moment, no need to rush!

Seriously, don't do that. Especially for games of such quality.

Or do it, idc, but don't be surprised when there are more situations like Irrational.

City came out in late 2011. Origins came out last October, but that was by a different company.

No, it wasn't. WB Montreal, right?

I still feel like it's too soon, or better yet, they just shouldn't have released Origins.

It may be a different company, but it was built with the same tools RS gave them, following the same blueprints.

Still you could look at that as more of a business decision that was made to make money. This on the other hand is the real deal.

    Oh, it definitely was that.

But so were CoD, Rockband and guitar hero. Didn't stop me going from love to loathing though.

Finished my first playtrough of Stick of Truth. It's like a massive 10+ hours episode. Awesome. I laughed myself silly. Go play with it douchebags.

Don't play it if you're not amused by South park or are expecting a deep RPG btw.

It's very much a vessel to deliver SP humour first, a mechanically sound, but shallow RPG second.
Not saying that's it's a bad RPG at all, but don't go on expecting FF/ Tales/ Skyrim depth.

Gonna continue to use this thread as a random pit to discuss random vidya.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.

An eviscerated game, rendered mediocre by LucasArts shitty deadlines.

Just completed a full playthrough again, and by full playthrough, I mean a game modded with The Restored Content Mod, and M4-78.

    Perfect.

    Just fucking perfect.

What the modders added fits seamlessly, and each time you reach a restored part, you know, if you have played the game before. It really does fill in the patches with cutscenes or random bits of conversation, and it turns the ending from one shitty ending that answers nothing to one that answers much. It takes Kreia and morphs her from the eccentric old woman that says a lot but SAYS nothing, into a true, bitchin' sith lord. The restored content fits perfectly there and actually makes sense of her machinations. The duel aboard the Ravager, originally fraught with some bullshit and no answers regarding Visas, now perfectly explained. Sion, no longer a useless husk only good for proving that you've levelled up intelligence, persuasion, or awareness. The non-Atton companions - fleshed out (except Bao-Dur, but he's hopeless anyway). The HK-50/51 droid factory on Telos - flawlessly executed, with a script that makes perfect sense.

(M4-78 is less important than the restored content mod. It's pretty fuckin' good for an obvious fan mod mission creation (like 1000x better than Dragon Age's Bloodworks, for example), but it's still mediocre. The Restored Content mod which fixes thousands of dialogue choices and adds the HK-50 factory is, heretofore, mandatory)

Real talk. If your only experience of KOTOR II is the vanilla game, and you have the ability to get the Restored Content Mod.

    Do it.

Like, now. It takes a ~6.5/10 game to a 9.5/10 game, easily KOTOR I's equal, the story of the Exile finally told properly.

I bought that game in a Steam sale a while back but I've never got round to playing it. If I'm going to should I definitely install that mod or should I play it vanilla first?

Vanilla makes no sense. Use the mods for first play, then if you still want to, play vanilla to see how bad it is.

I played through Kotor 1 and enjoyed it immensely (I unfortunately played blind and missed HK-47 altogether) but every time I would go looking for info about Kotor 2 it was endless complaints and warnings to not even bother which really makes me leery about it.

Even without the mods KotOR II is still worth playing. The restoration mod certainly improves it though. Unfortunately I think it's incompatible with any of the widescreen resolution fixes, at least last I checked.

It's also unfortunate that KotOR II has basically been erased from Star Wars canon, though with the Star Wars EU you're probably better off just deciding what's canon or not for yourself anyway.
