I still bet it you disagree with a character, you won't be able to become real friends. Or they'll just betray you.

    A lot of the ideas on that list are quite interesting. In particular;

I like this the idea because it shows that you're starting as a novice and building to a specialty, rather than already being a skilled warhero like Shephard. It kind of reminds me of a prestige class almost. It also seems like you will be able to customize to your play style more than ever before

I don't really care as long as ME:A isn't another DA2. And from the looks of it, it won't be. I am pretty hyped, been a ME fan for a long time. The lore, story, characters, all of it pretty much.

My only real fear is that EA might fuck something up.

There's no way EA won't fuck something up with a major franchise like ME. This ain't Titanfall, where you know they'll use poor sales figures (because Titanfal is competing with BF1 -EA itself! - and CoD) to say that that no-microtransactions, no season pass model doesn't work for them. Also, fuck BioWare.

They don't care about Titanfall's sales. They're trying to sink CoD. Have been trying for years.

And if BF hasn't managed that in ten fucking years, they're not going to. CoD has to Hindenburg itself. EA's management are like the Trump of game publishers, fuck.

I actually enjoyed DA:I quite a bit so I hold out hope that ME:A will be good. Interferance of EA though is another story. This will be most likely the hardest they will push the microtransactions down our throats considering that latest Deus Ex pulled an absolutely disgusting move in their season pass yet received little backlash.

Just read an interesting MEA article in CD-Action (Polish gaming magazine). Apparently they were one of four outlets invited for a look at the game.

Leveling system will be closer to ME1 for RPG purposes, ME2 lends loyalty missions and ME3 the combat, which is more dynamic and stuff because jetpacks. Basically, they're going for "take the best of the trilogy and make a game out of it" approach.

Three bits I found most interesting: roll/dodge is gone, replaced by a sprint/dash, automatic cover system (no key required to stick to cover, which makes me wonder how that'll play with left hand advantage) and guns are balanced in MP first before being plugged into single player.

Also, no elevators aboard the Tempest. I still say fuck BioWare for the shady shit they pulled with the BSN forums, but maybe the people who are looking forward to Andromeda will get a good game at least.

So I recently bought a PS4, and I've been wondering about a couple of games, specifically MGS V and Skyrim SE. While I've heard lots of good things about MGS V, I'm wondering if it's going to make any sense (as much sense as MGS games ever make, I mean...) given that I haven't played the franchise since Snake Eater was a new release?

As for Skyrim SE, I've still got the vanilla edition on my 360, but the prospect of mods intrigues me. I've read that the only mods you can use on the PS4 are ones that 'use any assets that come with the game', but that you can't 'upload external assets'. Which means fuck all to my console gamer mind. Basically, is a reduced mod list worth getting it for, given how much I love it? I'm not really that fussed about it being prettier.

MGSV actually requires Peace Walker more than any other game. You can just watch it here if you want. That guy also has "movies" of the other games in the series too, though I suggest actually playing them if you can. You should also play Ground Zeroes since that's directly before Phantom Pain, but since that's only like forty minutes of story, you can also watch it on Youtube.

Phantom Pain is really, really story-light compared to the rest of the series and is fairly self-contained so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

As for Skyrim... just get it on PC, jeez. It came out five years ago so it can't be that hard to run for most computers these days, can it?

With regards to MGSV, I'd watch a recap video of Metal Gear Solid 3 and make sure to play Ground Zeros, but otherwise you're set.

With regards to Skyrim, I strongly urge you to get it on PC. The mods for PS4 are comically hamstrung. As someone who makes mods and I've made almost a thousand bucks from donations because of my mods, let me tell you that the PS4 situation is really really unfortunate. I know very few mod authors who are going to extend the effort to port their mods to the PS4 because it takes a lot of effort and the lack of external assets is ridiculously limiting. It basically means you can edit and tweak stuff already in the game, but you can't add in anything new.

And with Skyrim, there's a lot of mods that add in new stuff. I would really recommend that you buy it on PC instead if you have a system that can run it.

Now, I've recently also purchased a PS4 as it so happens. Mostly to play Uncharted, the Last of Us, and the like. But I do love me some titanfall 2 and I'm tempted to get it on the PS4 as well as PC.

Did anyone see the ME:A gameplay trailer? Looks really good I have to say. The combat especially. I am still pretty hyped.

The combat looks great. The facial animations... not so much.

Yeah, I cringed a bit at the scene where Ryder takes the gun from the Turian...Still, three months to go, they'll have time for some refinement. I have faith.

Probably looks like that for PS4. PC master race - ho!

But seriously, ME and DA where never the games which had the best grafics or shiniest backdrops. They had the better stories. I appreciate that and can overlook bad grafics.

It's not a problem with the textures, it's a problem with their (lack of an) animation rig. That's not something that can be fixed client-side.

Like, look at Geralt in that gif. You can practically read his mind through the most minute facial movements, and the Witcher 3 had a pretty brilliant and fantastic story as well.

Now, with Mass Effect you have a customizable character obviously, so like I said I'm not expecting Witcher 3 quality here.

But I just don't understand how Bioware consistently ignores facial animations and leaves them looking so weird. I get it's hard and expensive but if they are gonna focus on cut-scenes at least spend some time on eye focus and brow movement.

If the eyes at least moved in the direction of the gun and the brow ridge compressed a bit to give a brief sense of the character thinking and acting on the gun, it would go a long way towards making that scene not look awkward as hell.

That's also leaving aside the good old Bioware trick of leaving the camera above elbow level to hide they couldn't animate it and just switching gun_asset to Ryder.

I mean don't get me wrong I'm still hyped after that trailer - the shooting and powers look pretty great. If everyone calls you Herald I mean Pathfinder that would suck tho.

It's not just facial animations, it's practically every animation. There's examples of Quality Bioware Animation going on since at least KotOR. They haven't gone away for thirteen years, they're not going away in the next few months. So if you're going to have faith in Bioware for anything, have faith that they will always have shit developers.
