A bill banning lootboxes is getting introduced to the US Senate. It has some...pretty broadsweeping terminology that could enforce more regulation on the gaming industry beyond just lootboxes. I see that as a good thing imo. The industry has refused to regulate itself and so the government is stepping in and doing it.

 

That bill has a snowball's chance in hell of passing, but I'm hoping it'll be something of a wakeup call to the industry at large and they'll start self-regulating before Congress can figure out how to put together one that will.

 

And this what it comes to, because of course any law will be written to o be broad and vague to give the regulator more authority.

Dear Nerds,

With the news of a new Detective Pikachu game inc, what's the first one like? Is it good? What's the gameplay?

Also is Pokemon Masters a Gacha? If so, Nintendo just crit me and it was super effective...

 

And we have the final clan list now: Ventrue, Brujah, Toreador, Tremere, and Malkavian.

 

The lack of nosferatu is somewhat disappointing, but all in all I'm happy with the choices. Now to choose...the only one I'm for sure not interested in playing is Brujah...but, thinking about it, ventrue game mechanics aren't my style based on the disciplines...so it would need a stronger story to have me choose it.

So think I've narrowed it to Toreador, Tremere, or Malk. Malk will prolly be second playthrough.

It's very Kojima. If you liked MGS5, you'll probably like DS. I assume it'll play similarly, but with a super weird story.

Looks Kojima enough for me, I'm in. Though I'd have bought it simply to support him, I want his first game post-Konami to be a roaring success.

Was amused to see Nicolas Winding Refn making a guest appearance, he and Kojima are the same brand of weird when it comes to storytelling.


In other news, was playing Dauntless on Xbox with some friends and came to the conclusion that my console days are numbered. After like 30 years of holding controllers, my hands now ache after using one for more than half an hour at a time.

I've been mostly a PC guy for ages, but a lot of friends are still on console and I use it as a way of staying in touch.

Kinda sucks.

Dauntless is pretty cool though, very Monster Hunter Lite. Thankfully they have cross play, so I'll be dling on PC (friends come before my hatred of Epic)

As an aside, I pick up on this every once in a while but once again I’m struck by the difference in quality between

1. an actual journalist writing and performing an exposé in video form, delivering news, versus

2. some guy with a YouTube channel, reacting to news.

I am subbed to some channels of the latter distinction as well, but Jim is really in a class of his own with (t)his stuff. Or at least I haven’t found anyone who comes even close.

 

Anyone here play or have thoughts on Dauntless? It's a ftp monster hunter type game that has cross platform. Might be trying it to give me and missus (I have 1 gaming pc and an Xbox one) something to do and maybe with some friends.

 

I've watched some reviews of it ages ago, and basically the gist I got from it is, its just a discount MHW.

Things might've changed idk, but thats what I heard, a few months ago
