So I was actually looking for non-fiction recommendations, but since megathreads are frowned upon, I thought I would post this in hopes that others will do the same.

Factfulness is an excellent book by Hans Rosling, a physician and TedTalk alum, which aims to show how human nature leads us to believe that the world is a much worse place than it actually is. It starts with a quiz which questions you on things like education, population, income, and public health, and proceeds to explain how most people are very wrong about all of those things on a global scale.

I've been on a nonfiction kick lately and encourage anyone with a similar interest to give this book a try (also, post your favorites).
