Summary: Harry meets Death and she's a beutiful woman. The fic is basically a series of short drabbles about Harry meeting her as a child and slowly falling in love. Harry comes to have a better understanding of magic and meets many different worlds. It's got good grammar and is a quick read. It's not an intense adventure but I found it a relaxing read for what it is so give it a 3/5.

There's something about this I like. The way the story seems to ...flow. It's very light and barely plot heavy or character heavy, but it's still nice. Like an autumn breeze, not too cool, not uncomfortably warm, just pleasant.

But the focus of the story seems to be HarryxDeath, so I'm not sure how this story can change, if at all. Either there's gotta be pointless relationship drama (which I loathe) or a sudden shift into action (which isn't in keeping with the nature of the story) or angst (which is the worst IMO).

While the story isn't terrible per se. It is completely dry and lifeless.

You have to really want to read it for your mind not to wonder off in boredom. I tried reading it twice, but both times I just sort of found myself browsing reddit

 

Totally agree. I wonder if the 'lifelessness' of the writing is deliberate, because you know, Death. If so, author should probably stop it.

But its pretty bad and you will get bored. It's not helped by the ultra short chapters. The current word count is 52k with 55 chapters. That's IMO such a terrible writing style and makes its incredibly difficult to get engrossed into the plot (if there actually was a plot).

There is little substance to this story.

 

I'll echo this sentiment. I have read the first few chapters of this fic a couple of times and it's never been able to hook me. Which is a shame because I want to like the fic but it's not engrossing at all.

 

Well, it's drabble, that's kind of the whole point. Being able to tell a (more or less) overarching story in that format is quite impressive, even if it's helped by being fan fiction (and thus having the advantage of being able to rely on the reader's familiarity with source material to help fill in pieces). It's certainly not the most exciting piece of HP fan fiction I've ever read, but I do enjoy it, and appreciate the unique way it's being told.

I'd probably rate it a 3.5, rounded up in being generous and appreciating how well it works within the limitations of format.

 

I don't think I would have liked this if it wasn't Sandman xover but I actually like this story. 3,5 rounded up for awesome Sandman-Death.

I love Death in Sandman.

 

I dropped it half way. Like the others have said, really dull chapters with nothing of real interest. Even the fight under water was incredibly dry.

 

I tried to read the story twice and stopped both times somewhere between chapters twenty and thirty
I liked the general idea, the way it is told gives the story a nice style and some of the chapters could become nice reads.
But the farther along I read the more detached I became from the story till i just didn't want to read further.

Can't say if it's the sometimes dull chapters or the things that let me read past chapter five just stopped being interesting later in the chapters

 

Just finished reading this. It's ... different. I think the best descriptor would be whimsical. I liked it though. The reading is light and easy and it can be put down and picked up whenever without much investment.

I'll give it a 2/5. For all that I liked it, it really is just a collection of words that doesn't really amount to anything.

There is one takeaway from this though. Dumbledore's little shpeal on love in chapter 28 is, in all honesty, perfect. It fits his character, canon or otherwise, so well, I'm surprised it was in this fic.

 

I actually quite like it, trashy as it is. I attribute that to the short length of each chapter, were they 3-4 times as long it would rub in just how shitty some of the developments are.
